Otherwise she stays at what appears to have evolved into the best program in the couintry.
I’m thinking Kim Mulkey developed that entire program, I’m not giving evolution credit for Baylor’s success.

Only a few days ago Mulkey said she'd love to coach at LSU: for the men. I would agree there's no way she's coming to LSU to rebuild a program, not at her age. And the AD would have to triple Fargas' salary to compete with Baylor.
As for Fargas, the comments in the Tweet say it all. No to Fargas because if you bring her in, why did you fire Warlick. Truthfully, Fargas is a great Xs and Os coach which has been shown many times. She will likely do well with the Burger Girls at Tennessee. That is her history. Excellence with other coaches' recruits. Her ego and personality get in the way of her recruiting. She has a bad reputation on the club circuit and although some say Tennessee recruits itself, Fargas will inhibit that. She hardly has the warm fuzzy personality that she sold herself as and has alienated many people. I don't hear former players talking good about her. That would likely continue if she goes to Tennessee, but that would be their problem.
If she goes, LSU has many choices dependent on their money offer. I agree with Niele Ivey being a top choice but they might be on the lookout for FGCU Karl Smesko. And they could get him with Nikki's current salary.

I definitely can see Tennessee hiring Nikki. Obviously she would not get paid ridiculously in base salary, but would have a ton of incentives.
I am interested to see how LSU would move in this situation because they would not be able to move too far from the $700,000 threshold they created with Fargas. The question ultimately becomes how much does LSU care about women's basketball? And not the damn Rant, but the University.
Also, just stop with Mulkey.... if LSU paid a women's basketball coach how much Mulkey is receiving currently, there would be revolts at Sonic before every home game.

Maybe that was code for she would consider coming to LSU because she knew that Fargas was being considred for Tennessee. She did not have to signal she was interested in a job that was not yet open but made it known LSU had some allure for her.
You never know what can happen sometimes.

Tennessee and their sexist fans and boosters only want Fulmer to look at women candidates so that isn't helping the cause making it a much more limited pool to pick from

Bingo...with the history of Pat Summitt and what Muffet McGraw (ND's head coach) just spoke about, they would act insane if a male was hired.

They asked Mulkey at her press conference yesterday about Muffet's comments on women and the HC job. I loved how she responded.
She said she can understand where Muffet was coming from and thinks its great for the sport when more women are involved in coaching but went on to said, she doesn't believe in hiring someone for the sake of hiring a certain type of person. That the best person for the job should be hired, man or woman.

How do you know this? Very few people at the top of their profession take a paycut, even if it means a chance to “come home.”
Furthermore, while she may be from Amite, she did not play or coach at LSU. Her son did, the whole world knows that, but other than that she does not have ties to LSU.

Yes she is, in a Valerie Jarrett sort of way!

She is not from Amite. She is from Tickfaw and played at Hammond High.
Its irrelevant whether she has ties to LSU. Her sole reason for taking the LSU job if it opens is for family reasons. Period. She is in a premier spot at Baylor that would likely take a couple of years or so to even come close.

Seems Tennessee ladies basketball is headed the direction of the La Tech Techsters ended up in. Sad

AD Alleva is trying his best to keep Fargas as possible as he can.

Is this where Joe offers her a new contract with a massive buyout?
Posted on 4/7/19 at 11:46 am to maryannorginger
Hate to see you go, Nikki, but here's your hat.
Posted on 4/7/19 at 11:48 am to maryannorginger
I’ll write her a letter of recommendation. I’ll evenchip I’m on the gas to get her there.

Take Alleva with her

I pray that Fargas is hired at Tennessee and Baylor loses to Notre Dame in the championship game. So we can get Kim Mulkey here in Baton Rouge.
