LSU has set the capacity level inside The Chute at about 800 people to maintain a comfortable—not crowded—atmosphere, and fans have reached that number at every home game since the Sept. 8 season opener, says Robert Munson, LSU senior associate athletic director. “The minute The Chute opened at game one, people started pouring in,” he says. The new beer section, however, is not a major revenue generator for LSU, because LSU does not make money on alcohol sales in the stadium. Rather, the outside concession company Aramark collects proceeds from beer and admission sales at The Chute. Aramark does pay LSU a vendor fee based on stadium attendance, Munson says, declining to disclose the amount.

Y’all are missing the story here. LSU did something for the fans without any revenue motive.

Stadium attendance has nothing to do with people outside the stadium in the chute.

The overall stadium attendance is what drives that number. Not the people in the chute.

LSU found a way to make money off of alcohol when they can't sell it themselves.

Again, don't kid yourself.

Is this a joke? If not, you should read up on some basic economic theory. It will really enlighten your world about how and why things happen.

Everything LSU does is to increase revenue. And that's not always a bad thing.

So, they increase attendance while also charging a vendor fee for the right to sell alcohol to the people that have already paid LSU for their tickets.

You're right. This definitely isn't revenue driven.

What people are missing is that LSU signed this contract pre chute. So unless the fee that aramark pays LSU per game changed because of the addition of the chute, technically LSU doesn't get a benefit compared to last year. I believe it was reported that the fee was fixed and that's why so many people were pissed at LSU. Because essentially it gives LSU no motivation to make sure the product is of good quality because they make their bottom line no matter what and Aramark really can't be trusted to improve themselves because they've shown across the country that their product will always be the cheapest thing possible.

The only benefit LSU gets from the chute is it increases ticket sales in the sense that more people will come to the game to come to the chute, but they won't reap the rewards of alcohol sales directly. I am still on a 100% Aramark boycott.

F Aramark

Let me see if I have this straight....

--LSU fans bitch because they cant' drink beer in Tiger Stadium
--LSU surveys fans about what might make their experience at Tiger Stadium better
--LSU listens to the fans and works around draconian SEC alcohol rules and opens the Chute.
--The Chute has become wildly popular with the fans in attendance and is filled to capacity each game, apparently offering a service at a price point that consumers are willing to pay and providing service that is quality enough for what the people are paying.
--LSU fans suggest boycotting the place because of where the money goes.

Who cares where the money goes? Enjoy what is there and just be done with it. Aramark isn't going anywhere, so just deal with it. If you don't like their concessions, then don't buy them. But to boycott something good because Aramark runs it is beyond stupid.
