Is DiGiacomo supposed to find a DH role this year?? Wasn't he highly touted coming in?

How did Walker look?

Thanks as always Scuba!

DiGiacomo seems to be the outfielder in waiting this season, IMO. There are several good bats available to DH so I think they will be platooned with Jordan getting most of the PT early.

It was so nice to see Walker warming up before the lightning delay. It's been a long time since I've seen that. He looked like his old self except a little rusty from the time off. I'm hoping that he can return to the weekend starter role that he had in 2017.

Don't care what his numbers were, just glad to see that name up there.

Walker used all three pitches. Ball came out good. Command was a little spotty, but it was great to see him out there.

I think a lot of Beloso's PT will depend on how well he hits and what happens behind the dish. Biggest issue with Beloso is he is a DH/1B only so his playing time will depend a lot on his bat. If CPM gives him time and a rope he will adjust and likely be very productive. As for the C position, if Garza sticks behind the dish then Beloso will likely have to out hit Mathis and probably Willis to secure 1st, which I think he can do! Don't think Bryce gets much of a look at 1st this season. If Mathis wins C position look for Garza to slide to 1st and be tough to beat out. BIG body with huge stick(24 HR's as a Freshman in JUCO last season). I think DH spot will be BJ's to lose but certainly if CB hits he'll get some opps there. As for Dugas, he'll have to beat out Bianco at 3rd and as long as CPM hasn't already decided/crowned DB as the 3rd baseman GD should compete well over there. Should be some fun battles to watch as the fall and early spring unfold.

Don't think so....very FAST guy but light with the bat, more of a singles type hitter! Agree with Scuba, is the OF in waiting and will def compete for CF next year as we lose AD and ZW.

So his style of play is similar to Duplantis?

I don't think he has as much pop/power as AD. AD has that ability to stick the ball in gaps and occasionally put one of over the wall but also make solid, consistent contact and doesn't K much. I don't think GD is that type of guy but really just going by summer stats. 19-89(.213) 2 doubles,1 triple and 30Ks.

Totally agree about 1st base. Whichever JC transfer doesn't catch, will probably play 1st. Beloso has to find his stroke to have a shot at PT.
He is 0-4 with 3K so far. Lots of time left, however.
Third base should be crowded with whoever hits getting the job. There are several good gloves to pick from with Bianco, Dugas, and even Hughes available. I'm not sure what to think about Kirsch. Perhaps a utility infielder if he sticks.
These two positions along with catcher will be fun to watch during fall ball.

Man I’m so pumped to see Hess, Walker, Cabrera, Watson, Duplantis and this group of freshman.

We’re winning the whole fricking thing.

I don't think it's reasonable to expect that Marceaux will carry his 22.5 Ks per 9 innings through the season. Probably be like 18 or something.

Safe to assume Giovanni D. will be our pinch runner in crunch time?

Oh yeah. Him and Dugas can both fly.

I just noticed that Costello was one of the batters yesterday. So far him and Ripoll have taken ABs.

We really need a good pinch runner, missed that guy this year.

Old dogs can learn new tricks after all. I was skeptical when I saw that Paul said he didn't want to wait too long to find another Austin Bain.
