you know there isn't a direct correlation with teams losing games to recruits becoming disinterested in the program. LSU had a number one recruiting class in 2009 (I believe) after they had just went 8-5.

Thank you.

Right, LSU have NEVER lost to an inferior Arky team. NEVER.

Never a 3-7 Arky... with 7 of those losses coming back to back to back to back to back... you get the idea.

Would miles still be at Lsu if Tennessee didn't have 12 guys on the field in 2010?
don't forget the tight end for north Carolina that dropped 2 td passes at the end of the game, and the football bouncing straight up in the air against florida.

Ooh ooh, and don't forget the thrashing up up-and-coming aTm in the Cotton bowl. Oh, everyone did? Oh, ok.

yep. could have easily had 5 loses in 2010 and miles would have been history having 3 straight zook like years.

Hmm... let's investigate what 3 straight zook like years look like. Take your pick of which 3 years...

quote:

2005 Illinois 2–9 0–8 11th
2006 Illinois 2–10 1–7 10th
2007 Illinois 9–4 6–2 2nd L Rose† 18 20
2008 Illinois 5–7 3–5 8th
2009 Illinois 3–9 2–6 9th
2010 Illinois 7–6 4–4 T–4th W Texas
2011 Illinois 6–6[n 2] 2–6 5th (Leaders)

Ooh, that was a great 2007 year. If only we had a year like that in 2007. Man, guess I'm just a dreamer.

I think they're referring to the Zook era in Gainesville.

Fair enough.

2003 Florida 8–5 6–2 T–1st (East) L Outback 25 24
2004 Florida 7–4[n 1] 4–4

quote:

2008 LSU 8–5 3–5 3rd (West) W Chick-fil-A
2009 LSU 9–4 5–3 2nd (West) L Capital One 17 17
2010 LSU 11–2 6–2 T–2nd (West)

Just to the Fat Bastard's point, let's pretend those lucky breaks don't happen. 8-5, 9-4, and 9-4 would be acceptable because Les Miles started his tenure with 11-2, 11-2, and 12-2 records.

Do you guys really not see the difference?

It's weird. I hate the "fire Les immediately" people, but the "Les is more important than LSU" people really piss me off too.

Les is important TO LSU. How can you ignore what he's done for the program. Just two seasons ago, we were in the national championship game (regardless of outcome).

ETA: Just read that you hate the fire Les immediately people, too. Sorry, Mo. Just know that I'm not saying Les is more important than LSU.

Yet, who is the one coach who consistently gives Saban fits?

That's right. Les Miles was able to turn LSU into a program that can compete with perfection.

We've been outscored 80-34 in our last 3 meetings with Alabama.

Let's say he gets canned. Who out there will be able to step in and continue what Les has going at LSU?

There are dozens of coaches who could come to LSU and average 2-3 losses per year. That's not exactly spectacular.

Oh really? Then give me the reason why Les is the first in LSU's history to consistently achieve this?

That's a beautifully ignorant statement as well. LSU is about to wrangle in one of the best classes in years, but people love to only look at the negatives and ignore the positives.

We suck on defense now because of the defensive players we lost to out of state teams.

Texas A&M joining the sec hurt as well and will continue to hurt.

and don't get mad when LF goes elsewhere.

I don't think Miles should be judged relative to the success or failure of any other program. He should be judged on his own merits. For example, Tennessee 2010. Miles made a mistake at the end of the game. The fact that UT made a bigger one shouldn't absolve Miles of that error. Works both ways too. If we play a good game and still lose, that shouldn't necessarily count as a strike against Les.

Cool. Thanks for repeating this. Let's compare Alabama's combined score the last three meetings with other yearly SEC schools.

Ole Miss: 110-21
Arkansas: 142-14
Tennessee: 126-29
MSU: 92-24
Auburn: 118-42
