The single significant issue remaining on this team, IMO, is the OL play.

If the OL develops into a strength, this team literally could run the table. If it does not, any game could be up for grabs.

This team is not there yet. But, if it can keep winning and improving for the next 3 weeks, LSU will actually be where we were hoping they were coming into the season.

Wow, SEC games are going to be competitive? You don't say.

Why would you expect that in the first place?

First off, I'm a LSU homer who bleeds purple & Gold...
However, this is a very average team with some very outstanding athletes. The chemistry and coaching just doesn't seem to be there. I hope I'm wrong but I predict a season record of 7-5 at best. Judging each team on the schedule right now, it's hard to find more than 5 more wins. All of the remaining SEC games will be a struggle. Just my opinion.

You are getting and will continue to get flamed, but you are spot on.

Just as in year's past, the team is getting by...we may even run the table until we get to the Bama game. Just as in year's past, we will lose three in November and everyone that is flaming you will be calling for Miles' head.

For some reason, rational thought is not tolerated and you are not a "fan" if you see and speak the truth here.

As to your point, there is a likelihood (probably 50/50) that LSU loses two of the next three (AU and UF). That gives us three losses with the most difficult part of the schedule yet to come.

It is probable, if not likely, that we lose at least two of the last four SEC contests. That gives LSU five losses on the season. Realistically, it is hard to imagine beating any of the last four SEC games since OM and Bama are better and Arky and aTm are on the road.

That could leave us home for bowl season.

I'd love to hear rational reasons why all of the above is not true.

some fans are so blinded by les miles hate that they dont even realize how foolish they sound.

1) when has Miles, while being the coach of lsu, ever had a season with less than 8 wins? I'll wait.
2) it appears lsu has a competent qb in charge of the offense, has a heisman contender at RB, the o-line is consistently improving (allowed 0 sacks against a good MS state d line), great WRs, and a strong defense under Aranda that's loaded with talent, yet you believe this team is "average" and lsu will have it's fewest number of wins under Les Miles.

your thread is stupid.

7-5 would tie Miles worst record at LSU in his entire tenure, it's only happened once in 2008 when we were awful on both sides of the ball. I would be shocked if we win a Natty with the deck stacked like it is, but 7-5 is ridiculous. We could run LF up the gut 50 times a game to an 8-4 record.

I do agree with this. Our season basically is in the hands of the offensive line. Special teams is a close second. Kick offs and kicking has to get better. We can't have two missed XP's in 3 games.

It would be Miles worst record at LSU with arguably one of his most talented teams. The OP is not in any way rational.

Wow, we either will or won't lose games? Excellent analysis.

So just so I have you right, it's only rational when you're negative?

So you think this is literally the worst team Les Miles has had at LSU?

In 14 people said LSU wouldn't win another sec game then pulled off 3 in a row and took bama to OT where they needed the refs help.

This is a much better team.

I would say this would be an absolute worst case scenario. After the wisky game, yea things looked bleak. But the team has improved and DE may just be the catalyst this team needs to catch fire.

hopefully we run the table. but reality/probability and hopes/wishes/fantasyland are two different places.

could be just another normal miles 3 or 4 or 5 loss team, see 2008, 2009, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015

but my guess is 3 or 4 losses. 8-4 seems about right unless a miracle occurs.

I remember feeling that way in 2003 after pounding 3 cupcakes, squeaking out a 7-point win over UGA, whipping an eventual 10-loss Mississippi State team and then getting beat by double digits by a 3-3 Florida team in Tiger Stadium.

I don't know how anyone could have watched LSU win 9 games the last few years, watch this team, and say to themselves they look two losses worse.

Absolutely agree! We have a qb who does not panic, and runs the OFF. We have a stable of RB's, to include the best one in CFB. We have a dynamic group of receivers, and an OL that's best FB lies ahead. On DEF we are getting after the qb, and defending the run very well. We need to tighten up our coverages, continue to tackle well, and run our 3/4 set until we know it like the back of our hand. No free-bees! No reason we can't improve upon last year's record.
