disagreeing with but coach now = thinking for yourself
It's the militant agreeing with the decision after LSU went 20 years without doing it. Ask anyone in 2022 and it's 99% you should always pitch off. NPCs because opinions change based on what the current coach says. Even though the previous coach pitched off every single time and was never hurt by it. The people who don't change their opinion based on the current coach are the free thinkers.

I’m sure Johnson looked at DBU’s OPS vs lefties and righties when making his decision. Perhaps Anderson will give up a solo homer or two (like the first time LSU faced DBU), but Johnson obviously feels he’s more likely to keep them off base.

Win game 1 and you’re in control. Lose game 1, you have to crawl out the losers bracket. Not with this lineup
So this year LSU has 1A and 1B when it comes to starters.
But most of the time LSU will have 1 and 2.
Starting 1-1 in a regional is identical whether you lose game 1 or game 2.

This is what gets me as well. I have no issue with those who resign themselves to it being Johnson’s strategy, so why worry about it. It’s the ones now arguing adamantly that it’s no question the right thing to do that are the issue. Either they were too weak to disagree with the prior coaching decisions or they are changing their tune to fit the new narrative.

Doyle?

Not even close. When you’re done though, make sure you wipe his nut off your chin

I thought CJJ said Arrambide was preferred by Eyanson?

I like this lineup. Easier to bat around the Jones strikeouts.

And that qualifies as “thinking for yourself”?

I have no idea what this means

Define “hurt by it”? I would say not losing either the 1st or 2 game.

I would say that’s more sticking with principle but that assumes they thought that on their own and not just because “that’s how it’s always been done”.
Free thinkers also change their mind when new information becomes available. If Johnson had pitched down vs Tulane and saved Skenes for game 2 he would have only gotten 3 innings out of Skenes like he did out of Floyd before the long weather delay. Now we can’t know how many pitchers would have been used vs Tulane but Skenes went 9. We used 4 Cooper, Auk, Herring and Guidry in the last game only Guidry had pitched in game 2. more than likely one of those would have had to pitch down on Friday, so where does that leave you Monday? We can’t know of course but if you use Skenes on short rest that’s risky too. I personally would save the ace for the “marble game” but i understand there are reasons to stick with doing what he did, so i won’t worry about it until or unless it becomes a problem

LSU never lost a 1-0 game under Paul after pitching off in the 1/4 game

Exactly, You don’t waste a top 5 pitcher in the country against a team with an rpi in the 200s. You have to win a minimum of 3 games, and this one is by far your easiest opponent.

I’d imagine a big part of his reasoning is saving the bullpen also. Both of our 2 starters have the ability to go 8-9 innings.
There are pros and cons to both, but I’m never going to stress out like some on here over something I can’t control. Especially if it never burns us.

You do realize we are planning on playing next week right? Why get your aces off schedule if you don't feel you need to. Anderson is pitching tomorrow and our bullpen headlined by Evans and Shores is head and shoulders above anything we will see Sunday.

Our super regional might not even start until Saturday depending on what happens in the Baton Rouge and Clemson regionals though.

He’s going to go top 2 in the draft. Good juvenile insult though. I know you have no clue about baseball as white trash redneck but you should try reading once in a while.

He won’t and you’re wrong, per usual
