Absolutely not. Way too big of an advantage.

There should be FAR fewer FBS teams.
I agree with this. Just curious on what what your qualifications would be to be a real FBS team would be?

They’re not going to stop at 4 teams. They know there is more money to be made with 8 and eventually 16 teams. I think 8 is probably the perfect size though.

Imagine if Texas and OU came into the SEC. The networks would implode with ratings
The SEC already has A&M it wouldn’t gain much if anything adding Texas and Oklahoma.

I say 8 teams. 5 power 5 champs, 3 at large.
I say 13 team Playoff...Make the Conference Championship game an elimination game. Then take the next 3 highest ranked teams that did not lose the conference championship game. (WILD CARDS)
Now you have your 8 teams.

So you’d be better off finishing 2nd in your division, that’s not a very good playoff

I disagree. Under that scenario conferences would be pooling teams and Oklahoma and Texas are the best two programs in that region.

The Power 5 need to consolidate to 4 super Conferences, form a new division, and ONLY play each other.
The 4 conference Champs then have a 4 team playoff.

Agree completely + one of the at large teams has to be a G5 team.

Exactly. It would likely turn out that the G5 team is always playing the 1 seed, and it’d only a matter of time before they pulled a major upset. Could you imagine Boise State stunning Alabama in the first round? Would be great for the sport.

The result will be a de facto 8-team playoff with the conf championship games.
This year #1 and #2 are in the same division. Need to expand to 8 so that one of the best 4 isn’t left out. No one beyond the top 8 will deserve a shot at the title, so it never needs to go past 8.

Remember backnin 2010 when SEC expansion was brought up and people thaought it was good? Yeah that...
Bigger is not always better...

That’s got nothing to do with #1 and 2 being in the same division. Tamu’s not sniffing the playoff any time soon.

Expand the Play Offs
dump the "Rent A Wins", reduce the number of total regular season games, increase playoff to 16 teams, make Bowls part of playoff package

16 is way too many. 8 is perfect: 5 conf champs and 3 at large. Only one more round.

get the effin humans out of it !
we went to the BCS because of the HUMANS but a lot of you are too young to remember.
Right now being #1 and #2 mean nothing...
so..
go to 6 games (picked by BCS formula), give the #1 and #2 teams a bye thus giving some meaning to earning #1 and #2.
should be about THE BEST TEAMS, it is a championship....NOT EVERY CONFERENCE GETS A TROPHY as it were.
What we have now is an attempt to manipulate games for market share in TV audience.....let's satisfy as many Presidents and Conferences as we can. THAT IS NOT A CHAMPIONSHIP

Agreed, plus it's not always obvious who the Top 2 are and we're back to arguing about who those special two are, which is not an improvement from today.

i think if this was an exclusive rule i could get behind it for sure

I think there’s a couple options. I’d like to see just the current power 5 teams plus just a couple independents like BYU and Notre Dame. Or, I’d be cool with opening it up a little more by keeping the Mountain West and AAC. Under no circumstances does the MAC belong. Most of the Sunbelt and CUSA should absolutely be demoted as well.
The choice is 64 teams (4 16 team conferences), 72 teams (6 12 team conferences), 84 teams (6 14 team conferences), and 96 teams (8 12 team conferences).
