Guice responded on facebook about Catholic High stuff.
This for all the people from catholic that has a problem with my story...
Most of you are white that disagree with what was said because you weren't black obviously and didn't come from an all "black" environment. You're not black so you have no idea what a "black" person goes through around all white people.. and yes the guidance counselor took me in before she was threatened to get fired because of doing it so quitting the job just to keep helping me. You're all outsiders looking in so you know nothing. And what team? All they did was hate on me since day one that's why me and my "black" friends either went to a different school or distanced ourself from y'all. And this isn't a shot at no administration, this is for the students that I encountered with 24/7. So just keep in mind if you weren't in my shoes you know nothing.

He's full of shite. To say Catholic was against him is absolutely asinine.

Agree with all of your post, Big Ed. Was a big adjustment for Guice, Ferguson, and Johnson. My son played with all three. Javahn leaving his senior year sucked. Great kid who made great grades. Travell is such a nice kid. But these kids did start 9th grade in a very different social setting.

"Not turning back there to the painful days of high school at a local, nearly all-white private school plopped in the middle of South Baton Rouge like a rose amid the thorns—a school that recruited him to play football, then threw him into a mess of racism and stereotypes."
Article lost all credibility when it had to throw in the victim and race card.

Man. I really wish I wouldn't have read his response
I was not there, but I can say my experience at the school was not like that. The "black" guys were our friends. They went to our parties, they have stood in our weddings, and they are our parrains to some of our kids
It is sad that either he is that much of a douchebag, or that the race relations really are like that now

Sometimes the truth hurts. We learn through pain. Use the spotlight on the community to make a difference.

What does he have to gain from lying? He's going to get paid either way.
What's his motive? You think he's mad and lashing out or noticed a problem and is trying to fix it?
Mix in a reporter whose job it is to be controversial.....
I don't know...why make any of it up? He's a fan favorite he doesn't need the attention.

It's not the truth. My brother played with him and my cousin graduated with him as well. Both of which say he's full of shite, and I didn't graduate that long ago, I can confirm they were treated with as much respect as anyone. I'm sure CHS loves seeing him paint them in such a light after the shite they did for him.

Like I said, possibly he is correct, but the culture shift that would have had to occur from when I attended makes it hard for me to fathom.

How the hell is a 14-year-old from Country Club of Louisiana with a surgeon father supposed to relate to a kid from north Baton Rouge?
Look to God he will show the way...

It's just two very different lifestyles trying to mesh with absolutely no guidance on how to do so.
The Bible is full of these stories on how to accept others despite differences. I am a proud graduate of CHS and a black male. I now have a successful career and CHS helped me in the process of achieving that. Lets not forget that the mission of CHS and other schools like it is to pass on the values of Jesus Christ to its students and those values do not include exclusivity.

It's undeniable that he came from a very different social background than the vast majority of other students. He's 20 years old. His perspective on the experience may or may not change as years go by.

This is an article was about GUICE. His struggles. His reason to run hard.
This has turned into a discussion of Catholic High school.
Face it. High school is rough. High school with rich kids is rougher. As an LSU alum, I came from a small town. I can tell you that students from Baton Rouge high schools were all cliquish and clannish. I can only imagine what it was like to go to high school with them. They didn't need to make friends. They brought their friends with them. I felt the sting of that.
However, that is not the point of his post. The point was the struggles of this amazing young man. He has fought against the odds and he is winning, friends. On and off the field.

It's actually not at all. You'd be surprised. The same way that there are white people who have never interacted with a black person.

Is it hard to believe that high school kids can be assholes, regardless of the school? It shouldn't be a reflection of Catholic, just the fact that kids are idiots. That was his experience, not everyone else's.
