What's your end game? For nobody to ever disagree with an LSU athlete again?
Of course not. I disagree with them and coaches plenty. But many people here, even before his facebook post, were mad at him for the article. When the article itself had very little bad things to say about catholic outside of what the author himself implied. If people want to hate on Hayes for sensationalizing and bad "long form" journalism without quotes from the school, I understand completely. But all you have now is Guice's facebook post where he felt the need to defend himself and trying to decipher what he meant by "all" and "y'all". All the white students? All the white teammates? All the black ones? All the people calling him a POS and liar?

Again, this means nothing to Catholic. It doesn't tarnish anything. But if you're upset, be upset with Hayes IMO. Guice's experience is his own and if he went through situations at school that affected him negatively, like he said, it made him who he is today. He doesn't seem to hate anything about it now. Yet, here we are. LSU fans offended. My problem isn't with you who just disagrees. It's with those who make this way more than it is.

I don't think the article insinuated that at all

Umm, I disagree

Oh good. People are talking about the article while you keep talking about the FB post.

I apologize. I should have said the Facebook post. Although the article does paint Catholic in a bad light by forcing someone out. When in reality, it is a policy to protect both the students and teachers

Catholic recruits everyone. That is kinda how you get students to go to a private school

coming from an alum of another Brother's of the Sacred Heart school, I'll say that Catholic High in BR is an elitist school, different from my high school experience. Sure, we had the elitist at ours too, but BR is different than where I come from. Though it's slowly changing, BR is a largely segregated community.

Gross. Were you one of those trashy troubled kids who went to Stanislaus? I couldn't stand when your filth came to CHS in '05

I went to multiple open houses for Catholic, had them come in my home, and received multiple letters of them recruiting me to go to school there. Same with the other private schools in BR.

And where was there a sports scholarship mentioned?

It's not unequivocally true for every child but I can promise you way too many kids of both races don't grow up knowing how to interact with others.

I totally agree with this...

back to the article, it's very well written and explains something I've seen in Guice...a hunger to succeed...

The more disturbing part of the article to me was that Derrius questions why God was not there to protect his father and to protect and provide for him and his family. It's the classic "why do bad things happen if there is a loving God" question. My hope is that Derrius gets an answer to that question.

I too was mad after my father died prematurely but I don't believe in a God that protects us from hurricanes, guns, car wrecks, diseases and on and on. My faith has taught me that there are loving people that help us through those times (like the counselor from CHS). Maybe this counselor believes she was doing the work of God by loving Derrius and in that sense God was "with" Derrius and still is.

I don't hate the guy at all. I hate that he took a cheap shot at a community that lifted him up. It wasn't necessary

That community may have only lifted him up when they found out he was a hell of a football player. He mentions that he experienced hate his 9th grade year and wanted to transfer to McKinley.
