Pretty cool story I read in the Houma Courier about LSU football player Derian Moore. He sounds like a great leader for the Tigers. Thank you for your service to our country Derian!

Former HLB football player says he’s blessed to play for LSU

quote:

He is living his childhood dream of playing football at LSU. He joined the Tigers last year as a walk-on, and he is preparing for his sophomore season this year.
“It’s amazing. It’s a dream come true,” Moore said. “Growing up in this area, it was always a big dream of mine to play at that level. Since I could remember, I’ve always said I’m going to play at LSU. I wasn’t going to stop until I got it.”
Moore is listed as a safety on LSU’s roster and contributes as a special teams player.
“I’m having a blast,” Moore said. “It feels like I’m living a dream. It’s something that I’ve put so many hours and so much work into. It’s finally paying off.”

Crazy thing...I met this guy from Oregon last year while on vacation in Mexico. He asked me specifically about this kid, Derian Moore. I told him that I hadn't heard of him but I'd keep an eye out for him. He told me the same story about Derian's long journey to LSU that's written about in the article. His son served in the military with Moore. He went on and on about what a great young man Derian is. I really hadn't thought about it till today.

Now that's a real cool story about a cool story.

Derian obviously has great character. Taking care of his mom before himself when he was a very young man was a very selfless decision.

He is already contributing in the locker room and at practice. Hope to see him get a chance to contribute on the field.

Worked with him last summer. He’s a great guy with a good head on his shoulders. He played specials teams last year occasionally, looking forward to seeing him play this year.

I've heard nothing but great things about Derian from his former teachers at HLB. HLB football was bad when he was there but he was a great athlete. I wish him the best at LSU. I hope he gets more playing time this year.

Really awesome stuff, so happy for this guy. I just got out of Navy and wish I had the size/athletic ability to walk on, I wouldn't even care if I played one snap just to be a part of LSU football would be amazing.

It is crazy how few Tigers have come out of HLB. I can think of two that played, and one that signed but never played.
