Their butts stay in seats all game long, and they are loud all game long !!! American football has gotten boring. We worry too much about how many at the playing of Hold That Tiger, and then have 3/4 empty stands at game's end !!!

It is easy to stay when you know the game wont be longer than 3 hours and there are no commercials. Also a ton of games are decided by one goal, so game always feels in the balance.

Soccer games last less than two hours, including halftime

A few things. The games are shorter and have no breaks except for halftime. Alot of the teams have stadiums that fit like 50k or less. Its much easier to come back from a 2-0 deficit with 10 minutes left in the game than a 14-0, in soccer things can turn at any moment. You also dont deal with people not showing up to games against bad opponents because there is always a threat you could catch 1 or 2 unlucky breaks and lose or tie a game even if you are a much better team.

So really apples to oranges

it's also for most people literally the only team they follow. No Saints, no LSU baseball, no Pelicans, no nothing.

I would love to sit with The Yellow Wall at Westfalenstadion

It's mostly the English stadiums where fans have to stay seated and it's largely a response to fan violence in the 1980s.

Because the game had ended an hour before that.

True but the Dortmund stadium OP linked to holds 81k.

I think the main point is that American sports fans need to be told when and what to cheer by a jumbotron instead of the fans starting cheers themselves. Most teams fans come up with songs to honor their favorite players and ones to mock opposing players. Hearing Liverpool fans singing You'll Never Walk Alone should give goosebumps to anyone with a pulse. You'll Never Walk Alone

Doesn't this get canned into the stadium at the beginning of the game?

Next you're going to complain all American fans do is yell.

Since 1974, Dortmund have played their home games at Westfalenstadion, capacity 81,359, named after its home region of Westphalia. The stadium is the largest in Germany and Dortmund has the highest average attendance of any association football club in the world.

They play about 25 home games in that 82k stadium a year, as opposed to our 7.

It does prior to the game, but towards the end of the game the fans sing it without any music.

I'm not complaining about American fans yelling. But if you watch a basketball game, everyone sits there until the fake organ music tells them what to do or the D-fence sounds start playing. It's just a more sterile experience in my opinion, especially in pro sports.

I travel to alot of English football games and have also been in tiger stadium. No comparison, American football atmosphere is different and better.

Soccer fans are driven by a rough element and the hatred between teams is insane. You think Bama vs LSU is a rivalry... Try a Derby match in the UK. fricking nutters, more cops at it than fans. Even if you're thirty games into a season and near the bottom of the league, they'll still be there every Saturday, shite faced and violent.

I'm getting to where I can't sit and watch football anymore due to the constant standing around and breaks in play. I just don't have the patience anymore.

Last night I had to get up and start doing other things when the refs and players just stood around for about two minutes during an official timeout. Then they ran a play...stop...ref stands over the ball, won't leave...officials run over to each other...officials run back...ump finally gets off ball...run play...TV timeout...all the while I age a bit more.

Soccer the clock never stops and play never stops minus a minute here and there for a celebration or injury. Game keeps going and it's done in less than two hours. The pace keeps you watching.

Football is way too long with the constant tv timeouts, official slowness, and breaks in play.
