And is #1 in SEC. I do not fully understand the methodology but this stat looks beyond raw numbers and evaluates QB play by down, distance etc. For example, a 5 yd pass on 3rd and 4 is given a lot more weight than a 5 yd pass completion on 3rd and 14.

If Etling keeps this up against better defenses ....

It isn't horrible at all. Will learn something Saturday when they play Wisconsin. Utah didn't have a lot of offense against them.

He's played ok overall. Some nice throws in the last games, then some bad ones. We have to make big plays against teams that are more disciplined and won't give up the big play on playaction. We lived and died by that under CLM the last few years.

Hopefully this rating is a sign of what's to come. It could be worse and he could have been at the bottom at that list also, so I'll take it. But, too early to get excited about any kind of ranking right now.

I guess red zone efficiency doesn't count for much. Hopefully that improves, as that is the biggest area hindering us from the next step.

Is QBR Rating the same principle as an ATM Machine?

Yeah but so has most everyone else.

BYU also has a decent defense, they were very good last year and have given up less than 20 pts in both there other games

During a currently undefeated and dominating season, with only 17% of that regular season completed, what exactly is this "next step" of which you speak?

I agree with you in that red zone scoring has left a lot to be desired so far, especially in the BYU game. I'm merely trying to figure out what step you think we are missing so far in this season.

The next step as a program. I would prefer to be competitive, as it relates to conference championships on a more frequent basis. I believe that red zone scoring has been a problem for awhile and the issue is still there as of now.

Protland State, and Utah. P St is FCS, and Utah is known for crap offense. The first time they went over 400 yards of offense per game since 2008 was last year. They lost that QB (2750 pass 15 TDs 235 rush yards 5 TDs), RB (1400 yards 10 TDs) , and three of their top 4 pass catchers (who combined for 1400 of their 2800 pass yards and 11 of their 15 pass TDs). BYU basically played a brand new team offensively.
