Good post. If our starting QB's didn't have ability, they wouldn't be where they are.Period. Let's let'm play and get some chemistry going. We'll be fine.

1. Hatch is good enough to make the BYU squad. BYU: D-I, 'school of QBs".
2. Hatch is smart enough to be admitted to Harvard. Harvard: one of the premier educational institutions - on the planet.
3. Hatch is a good Mormon boy. Good Morman boys generally keep their noses to the grindstone and out of the police blotters.
4. Hatch is good enought to make the LSU squad. LSU: the premier college football insitution on the planet.

Yeah, I guess I'm starting to see why this guy could be a real problem...

+1 on #1 and #4. It's not like BYU doesn't send players to the NFL or rank highly in the polls. Just looking at the highlight clips on youtube and some of the clips posted here from practice, I don't think Hatch looks half bad. He's bulked up a lot from last year. If we were in any other conference, I'd say we have legitimate title hopes. But, we are likely going to have to plunge through two, maybe three, top-10 teams and a few more top 25. Gonna be a tough road to the title for LSU, FL and UGA.

You do know he never actually played for BYU, right?

Yes, I realize that. The point was that he was recruited by BYU. There are still many "what if's?" when it comes to Hatch and I was just giving props to someone looking at the positives about the guy.

thank you.

ESPN has very positive things to say about Hatch yesterday. I was surprised.

Besides Vince Young, name a national championship QB who is a regular starter in the NFL.

Leinart should be the starter in Arizona this season, and was starting before getting injured last year

Does anyone think that this coaching staff would just give this guy a scholarship if they didn't think he could be an effective contributor at his position on the field?

Not really, that's why I started the thread. "Hatch the former HARVARD JUNIOR VARSITY QB, the leader in the clubhouse for the DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPIONS." He then said the best part about Hatch according to Helms: He looks you in the eye. Really? The best attribute for the QB is he looks you in the eye? Then he slips in, "Jordan Jefferson is going to play a lot too."

Seemed like he was undermining Hatch a lot due to him transferring from Harvard. Hence the question, would they be so dismissive if he transferred from BYU.

Andre Ware did say that all LSU needed was a game manager and Hatch could get the job done. All he has to do is get the ball to the playmakers.

Kurt Warner is the better QB in Arizona.

Does anyone else think its funny that every time they talk about Hatch, they show those clips of Lee and #16 throwing the ball.

LSU has been at its best with a smart leader under center(not great athletes): Mauck/Flynn. Neither were these great SEC QB's you always dream of, but they were able to lead their teams to a national championship, and at the end of the day, thats all that matters. We are so deep at RB, OL, WR. No matter who our QB is this season, the players around him will make him look good.
