I don’t think the death to ESPN crowd understand this. The SEC won’t fail but life gets exponentially harder for athletic departments and all sports.

Does it really? Financially it would just go back to how it was in the 90s, which was still awesome.

Flooding a situation with money doesn’t always make it better.

People still have Dish and cable type arrangements? Seems so old and antiquated with streaming apps.

But that $71/customer is what allows schools to fire a coach with $17million left on their contract and sign a new coach to a $100 million guaranteed.

Not sure we should be supporting such excess.

The Rant: i hate Socialism, capitalism over everything - all up votes

The Rant: I hate a for profit company trying to make a profit off their investment - all up votes

Some of y’all are just too dumb to understand how hypocritical you are.

So Capitalism is only good if it doesn’t hurt me, right?

Just get a sub to YouTube tv and watch the game

I know I'm gonna get down-voted but for those of you who have ANY type of satellite or old cable services need to get with the program. Streaming is much better and it's not even close.

One day in your life you will want to escape the city and live a more peaceful life in the country. When that time comes, you will realize quickly that the comforts of fast internet for streaming and what not will no longer exist. This is when Dish/DirecTV come into play. If the trend continues, the only option going forward to bridge the gap will be Starlink but that's still in the beginning stages. Hopefully options will widen by the time you make this choice but for the people currently living the rural life, there is an immediate strain being placed upon them. Dish has been swallowed up and DirecTV is on the clock. We'll see how it plays out.

Yeah the LSU athletic department and facilities were amazing in the 90’s. What made college football in the 90’s so amazing?

This is stupid. In socialism/communism it would be free for everyone and would be a shite run government program. And any public complaints about it would be punished by the government.

In capitalism we can complain all we want and speak with our dollars which some are doing.

You so dumb you have no idea the concepts of which you speak.

Bro…the U, Spurrier at UF, a few amazing Nebraska teams, Borden’s FSU teams and wide left/right..on and on. I’m going to assume you were born after all that?

I mean….college football is more than just LSU.

Cmon what? You can do all 22 with auto generated routes, advanced stats, and big play replays on demand. Name something better.

Yeah there were only good games and rivalries in the 90’s. You could make a list for 2000 and 2010 a mile long like your 90’s list. Still not sure how good games and crazy coaches went away due to ESPN and money after the 90’s.

You completely missed the point. Tv money allowed for the growth and improvement of college facilities and sports outside o football.

Well I didn’t say it did.

You said that the SEC would be worse off without ESPN money…

I’m saying it was perfectly fine before it. From a fans perspective. Why do I care about shiny facilities and coaches salaries? It didn’t make the sport better…that’s the point.

Everyone is going to bitch at DISH and cancel once they have to inevitably raise their price anyway due to this deal

This is the problem, and why things will never change. Service providers like Dish, Direct, and YouTubeTV are the ones getting fricked here. Disney basically holds the content hostage for an exorbitant Ransome and people scream at the provider to pay it. No one is vocally screaming at Disney like they are the providers.

Then when Dish does what the people are demanding of them and they have the audacity to raise rates a dollar a month to cover their losses people will lose their minds again all while Disney laughs diabolically.

Stupid take. Rural communities can’t stream sometimes due to the lack of internet services. Cable and satellite are the only options

Disney has the entire market cornered with how much shite they own. When you look at what is paid for other services, $1B is about the running rate. You could say that’s too much, but that’s not Disney’s fault and why should they take a discount on their product when others don’t? Dish is going to pay the $1B in a day or two, just like YouTube did back in December.

According to Google, Disney’s net worth is $177.66B. ATT (parent company of DIRECTV, DIRECTV Stream, ATT wireless, etc) is $112.8B.
Dish Network on the other hand is worth only $7.5B.

This is basically a leveraged buyout. Disney would just aboutchave to be willing to go bankrupt and also lose most of their communications systems to attack ATT. Dish offers nothing in return and is basically helpless.

I think this is a coup by Disney to take over Dish. They have 2 options - sell to Disney or merge with Verizon, Amazon, Google something like that and then tell Disney where to stick it. This might be the end of Dish.
