In a dream imaginary scenario where LSU goes undefeated the rest of the season knocking off #1 Alabama and #1 Georgia there are scenarios that would get us in the playoffs.
And if the Big 12 stumbles down the road and Iowa State somehow won that conference then I could even see 2 Big 10 teams getting in and LSU still making the playoffs. It'd be something like...
#1 OSU 12-1 (B10 Champ)
#2 Clemson 12-1 (ACC Champ)
#3 Penn State 11-1
#4 LSU 11-2 (SEC Champ)
------------------------
#5 Alabama 11-1 (lost at home to LSU and LSU coming off win vs. #1 team in country in their backyard in SECCG if we hypothetically beat #1 UGA so would only be fair)
#6 Georgia 12-1
#7 Stanford 11-2 (PAC-12 Champ)
#8 Iowa State 11-2 (B12 Champ)

Yep- if if if. But it ain’t happening- we can always dream though- otherwise there would be no point in being a fan.

Did the team decide today if they were gonna win or last Monday?

Not gonna happen. 1-loss Bama gets in in lieu of SEC champ, LSU.
Where I completely understand this feeling I would say LSU would have a 70% chance of getting the nod. ESPN pretty much drove the rematch in 2012 but there were teams that won their conference and didn't get the nod. A lot of teams would be pissed that Bama got in because they were "Bama". If LSU did run the rest of the schedule could anyone deny them the slot in the final Four? So then you would have two SEC teams in and the rest of the schools going ape shite.

Bama losses are dismissed as flukes. They beat themselves despite being the obviously better team.

If, and that's a big IF, LSU could pull off a win vs Bama and then win out...Bama would have to lose to Auburn for LSU to get into the playoffs AND UGA would have to also lose to Auburn. I believe a 1-loss UGA (SEC title game) would get in over a 2-loss LSU SEC champion.
