The point is that stating that a person is "well spoken" applies to all people, young or old, black or white (skin color has nothing to do with speech), etc. When I taught in college, half the students could neither write a complete sentence nor speak one. Since then, I've learned that it is true with adults as well. This whole thread was blown out of proportion. It IS a compliment to anyone to have someone say "He or she is well spoken."

How a nice post that comments on the overall class of an individual can get spun out of control amazes me. Or maybe it show the lack of class in the majority of society...

While I agree it can be a back-handed compliment, I hate political correctness as it is today.
However, some great comedy that agrees with your point...

I was told that coming out of high school he had a higher GPA than forty time. Can anyone verify this?

If he took AP classes his gpa could be as high as the mid 4's so it's possible.

I think you're confused. I never said the OP was racist. Never even inferred it. The first response to the OP was a "

Yeah, Valedictorian at Dutchtown is usually around 4.6+ GPA. Very smart kid. Knows how to succeed on all levels. My favorite player on the whole team.

Reid is fantastic.
It's disappointing that he made one of the great plays in LSU history (int vs Bama last year) but one that will not get brought up as often as it should because of the way the season ended.
Make another one Eric!

Eric Reid is a great football player, a great student, a great father, and an all around good guy. Probably my favorite player at LSU right now.

Because a lot of college athletes speak like adults... Quit being butthurt people. You sound like typical liberal douchebags looking fora reason to take offense about something that doesn't even concern you.

But to stay On topic, yes, Eric Reid is highly under appreciated. I've been saying he will be the biggest factor for a while. Even calle him to be the difference maker in the Alabama games.

secman12, you don't owe anyone an apology - you complimented a fine young man and yet a few turds on here are trying to be cute. When a man tries to be cute to another man, well that tells me everything I need to know about him
Watch that shite bro. I got in trouble for calling , what I thought was my friend, a turd in elementary. Seriously. In jest I say "awe you little turd" and it upset him to the point to bring it to the principal. You have to walk on eggshells around people or they'll take offense for not using the correct terminology when complimenting them.

I met secman12 a few weeks ago IRL. what a great, well-spoken and down to earth man. I am proud to have this guy post on TD on and off the internet. I have to think one reason our threads were so great last year was his thread starting ability on and off the field. Gnarwhale is great, love him, but secman12 IMO does not get enough credit. Looking forward to 2012 with this guy.

I thought Dutchtown's valedictorian in 2010 was a female... Not to take anything away from Eric's intelligence.

He is also very clean, like Senator Barack Obama.

I had no idea that he was valedictorian. That's awesome. Good for him.
