I remember that too.

And I agree, the more you play in a system the better you play.

just asking, but does this transitive measure of scoring translate across every single game that intertwines?

I don’t think comparing how two different teams performed against the same defense is as absurd as you’re letting on. Obviously it’s imperfect.

When the transitive property gets absurd and useless is when you get into the territory of “we beat X and X beat Y so we could/should beat Y!”

Take our overtime and you’re looking at less than a point difference and we have a kicker who kicked 23 field goals in regulations.

We missed PATS last year

SE is pretty average, but with more talent our O would be better. Much better.

How do we really know how much talent is on this offense??????

Even at the college level, plays and schemes have to be kept simple. Remember that some of these guys aren't the brightest bulbs and will go on to hilariously bad Wonderlic scores at the combine.

Really?

LSU is running some high complex scheme huh?

Holy frick

Some ways to determine talent;

1) watch the games
2) compare our talent to our peers
3) read and listen to what other knowledgeable folks are saying about our talent
4) look where our guys get drafted

What was his defense ranked their first year?

5th in scoring
10th in Total Defense?

frick the offense was so close to that

I mean I think That additional 30% will really be the difference between an offense in the 70s and an offense in the 60s

Well we did improve in passing yardage and points scored over last year's team even though we lost our QB our two TBs and our best WRs.

But still are 9-3.............

Please tell me what you think about an offense that has a 7 point lead with like two mins left in the game and needed just ONE 1st down to ice the game and failed............

Things should get much better as Burrow will have all spring to work with this unit. We return a ton on offense next year. Specifically OL.
That will not make it any better. Some of the OL problems are not "fixable." Cregg couldn't find 5 OL's that could learn their reads/assignments and execute them in a game, which was multiplied by the injury situation. (Injuries weren't the only reason/excuse though) Keep on naively hoping that another year of experience will make a significant difference.

Etling’s passing stats were never that hot.

He threw underthrown jump balls and hopped out WR would go get them, otherwise we had a million dump off passes to the RB.

its pretty frickin absurd

even more so in a meaningless, neutral site bowl game where the score was 56-7 at halftime.

auburn for the record, gave up 14ppg at home this year. This is a pretty good defense

This thread says so much about what the fanbase has become.

Previous regime would be lit on fire for something like this.

Unreal. Sad state of affairs

What would you have everyone do? Do you really want to go for 3 OCs in 3 years? Do you really think that's the best thing for the program?

There's a host of reasons for the offensive struggles and I don't believe changing OCs again is the right move.

Does anyone really think that LSU needs to make a move at OC?

but unlike many here I can see the OC is part of the problem and not the problem.

I think the majority of us, even in this thread, will say that the OC was only part of the issue this year. We know the o line was shite. However that shouldn't give Ensminger a pass. I think that's where the frustrations are. People are trying to excuse the entire offensive production because of the O line which is not the whole story either. The truth is both the OC and o line were not great this year. It's up for debate how much of the blame to put where though.

Cool. Let's look at playoffs:

OU: Murray first year starter. BAMA: First year oc and an starter.
Clemson: first year qb

All of those teams had better offenses and qbs last year than LSU and changes still occured.

Sounds like LSU recruits a bunch of dumb bunnies every year. Seems like every year it is because the offensive players cant get a grasp of the playbook.

Here's the difference there, chemistry is complex. Assignments are not. It's memorizing calls and play assignment.

What helps in both cases though? Asking questions.

The refs cost us that win.

Its funny how supposedly intelligent people choose sides, and act as if the D had no part to play here.

I remember a game when Saban coached here where a first down guaranteed a trip to Atlanta where he kicked a FG instead to take a six point lead only to lose in the last few seconds.

Its football. Coaches frequently do exactly what O and SE did. It happens all the time and usually the team ahead wins or coaches wouldn't keep doing it.
