Perfect regular season in the books and STILL won’t give O and E credit for the offense

Appears so.
It looked like Brady was calling everything Saturday.

I wish I could listen in on the head set chatter like you did. Then I too would know who was calling what.

re: Ensminger and O not getting enough credit for Brady

How was O and E's offense without Brady? Even with the same talent?

They never had close to this talent. Sure, a lot of the names were the same, Charles, Deculus, Cushenberry, Lewis, Chase, Marshall, Hellaire and Burrow, but these guys were young. That offensive line is waaayy better than last year. Do you remember Deculus being abused by speed rushers? Not any more. Do you remember Clyde sitting the bench behind an average Brossette? Chase could hardly get on the field. Burrow was 50% until the second half of the year.

Take away Joe Brady, and this offense is still the most talented LSU offense since 2007 at least - and by a lot! Obviously Brady has been key, but you can’t make the comparison you attempted. It’s bogus.

If Ensminger retired, and next season our offensive line was so porous that swe have to go back to 60% runs, would you say ohh, Ensminger was the reason for our success last year?

Have you considered that the offensive line looks so much better this year because we got away from the max protect scheme from last year?

You and OP are both wrong.

Ensmginer and O deserve lots of credit and have received plenty of it. I've long maintained that Ensminger is a good playcaller and game-planner but is just way behind the times when it comes to designing and implementing a modern offense. O and E both recognized this and did an outstanding job of spotting an incredible young talent in Brady and bringing him on board to fill the gaps.

Agree. Some also want to forget that our Oline play was a problem last year. That affected play calling as well. You could see improvement in play calling and Oline play in the bowl game. Ensminger deserves credit.

That is silly. O and E audited the abysmal performance of E's offense against good defenses and recognized they needed to do something different. E realized his skillset did not align with what works in today's football, and recommended they bring in someone with that skillset.

Brady brought in the modern concepts, but is learning organization and planning from Ensminger.

Credit is due on every level. O fulfilled his promise of bringing in the best assistants and letting them coach. Ensminger checked his ego, and let a young guy bring in some new concepts. Brady helped to bring our offense into the 21st century. It is a win-win-win.

Brady is the difference, not O or E. They failed without Brady. I give them credit for recruiting Burrow and Brady though

The OL was bad last year cause it was the most injury plagued it had been in 20 years, and I only went that far back because I got tired of adding up starts.

Tried telling people it would only make the unit better. Lot of guys got snaps that benefitted this year but will also help next year if we lose 3-4 guys.

The head coach doesn't deserve credit for assistants he hires?

This!!!
It's been a shitty narrative from certain posters about how O was "lucky" to find Burrow and Brady.

Orgeron deserves the credit for Brady being here, period!! Plenty of folks seem to be writing off O’s success to the “luck” of Brady magically falling into his lap. O & E identified the young man's talent, skill set and knowledge. The same way that any head coach builds his staff. Stoops had to find Lincoln Riley. Did anyone suggest that Stoops was lucky?

Same thing with Burrow. He wasn’t left on his doorstep or under the Christmas tree. It wasn't luck. O went after him. He recruited him. He sold him and closed the fricking deal.
Was Riley lucky to get Mayfield, Murray and Hurts? Was Burrow “lucky” to land in Baton Rouge surrounded with an incredible amount talent?

re: Ensminger and O not getting enough credit for Brady
FWIW I've read that LSU and the Saints had a meeting to talk shop and Coach O wasnt present but Coach E was. Said Brady really caught his eye because he had answers for every question and really knew the game.

They didnt hire him then. It was the next offense, Coach O went to Coach E after Sullivan was gone and said we needed to bring in someone familiar with the spread. Coach E was the one who pitched Brady.

Coach O, I will say this he knows coaches all around the country because of all the stops hes made throughout his career, his connections he has available is an underappreciated part of what has made him successful. Anyways he made some calls to coaches he knew that Brady worked with, and they all vouched for him, so Coach O pulled the trigger on snagging him.

It's entirely a group effort. But I think some credit needs to be given to Coach E for bringing in Brady as well, and not blinking when the head coach comes to him and says they need to change things and sounds like he already had Brady on the brain for the job from what I've heard. A lot of OCs would have an ego when a HC comes at them like that, but O and E have a bond and trust between each other which is why it works.

I considered it and rejected it. It’s a factor, of course. So is Burrow’s remarkable ability to escape pressure. But far and away, the main reason is that our tackles are beating the defensive ends.

They took a risk on hiring him

The LSU passing O since 2014 has been disappointing before this year. It’s been mediocre at best. I don’t think it was a risky move at all.

LSU had the # 2 passing offense in the nation and the #1 passing offense in the SEC. nothing else needs to be said about the tremendous job done by the LSU players and staff for this season.

while not up to rant expectations a 10 win season in 2018 is hardly a failure. This year is an aberration we will not see an offense this productive for a long time to come. Will it still be successful without Burrow? That is what will determine how good Brady, BEBE, and slinger really are.
I think we are set for a great run but I do not expect Brennan to put up Heisman numbers next year but I hope I am surprised.
