Soak it all up. Baseball is a funny game and can be humbling at times but this is the best collection of talent on a college baseball team that I can remember.

Watch and enjoy every time crews has an at bat. Watch every pitch Paul Skenes throws. These are guys we will hear about in MLB for a very long time barring injury. We are so blessed we get to see them perform for a university that we do dearly love.

But I thought Tennessee had the greatest college baseball team ever last year…that didn’t go to Omaha

They did. And had a bad weekend when it mattered most. Baseball is like that. Same thing could happen to this team if they have a bad streak at the wrong time. Ole Miss was 64th of 64 teams and won it all

They were really really good but, in the end, karma caught up with them.

Karma didn’t catch them, Notre dame played outstanding baseball that weekend

I remember their star player getting ejected and then missing the next game…that’s a bit of, let’s say umpiring karma. They got away with it all year until that series.

ND was also playing great ball, I agree.

Agreed. No guarantees about winning it all but we have a team that can definitely do it.

Hell of a job by Jay Johnson to put this roster together

This is exactly the spirit I like to see and be a part of. Well done, OP!

and Fresno state won a NC as a regional 4 seed one year. That is equivalent to a 13-16 seed winning the March Madness tournament for a NC in basketball.

This team is definitely capable of winning a NC this year but hope they are at the top of their game when it counts. Hasn’t been many letdown performances so far to indicate otherwise.

Is there someone else who can play shortstop?

OP is absolutely correct…not sure how this year will turn out, but it will be a pleasure to watch it play out.

That was definitely odd, but not nearly as crazy as Fresno winning it all back then. That Fresno team had a losing record going into their conference tournament. They were like the 8th seed in the WAC. They caught fire, and the rest is history. I think that was the craziest shite I've ever seen in baseball.

That was a mirage. Ole Miss was a team that was highly ranked going into the season. They had numerous injuries that decimated their pitching and lineup. They got fully healthy right before the LSU series.

Jay said after the Ole Miss series last year, after we got swept, that Ole Miss was the most talented, and complete baseball team in college baseball. Everyone laughed at him and thought he said it only because LSU got embarrassed. He said it, because it was the truth.

I am trying to not jump the gun but I get 2019 football vibes from this team.

I’m going to enjoy it with high expectations…but with the reality that it’s baseball and just because you may be the most talented doesn’t mean you win a NC. FSU has been to 23 CWS…with ZERO NCs. That’s baseball. But not getting to Omaha with this team (no big injuries) would be devastating.
