2000s???
The 1967-71 LSU logo available on this link is an early form of the "Geaux" font--that was 59 years ago.

That font looks like a clown newsletter mast head IMO. Much prefer GEAUX font, and besides someone in the AD authorized that to the tune of $250K fee to rebrand the whole marketing materials.

This looks better than the current. At least the Endzones are full. Add the P&G exterior border (Instead of the White) and this would not look too bad. Not as good as the GOAT, but much better than what's being painted there now.
