Seems like he's got a lot of positive comments here?

You can ink in two losses to Oklahoma. There’s no way on Earth he beats that Hurts kid. He’s the best QB the world has ever seen. Did you know he threw a bunch of touchdowns to Calvin Ridley, AND he can run around during holding penalties which aren’t called?

and the Bama obsession continues....

He’s pretty good, really physical runner and serviceable passer in an innovative offense.

believe he is good. But, those stats are a bit misleading. He was playing against B12 defenses.

He made a few very accurate throws. But, MOST of his long completions were to receivers that had 2 steps on the defenders. Again, he is pretty good. But, he is not going to be nearly the best qb LSU plays against

Yeah I don't think he's a top 3 QB nationally, but we're talking about the hiesman here

Eta - I see your second post

Because he is the returning QB at Texas and he is pretty good.

there have been many other posts over the past few weeks saying Ehlinger isn't very good, Texas isn't very good, and Herman isn't very good. I don't get it.

I mean, I don't think he will be a NFL qb but as far as college goes he is more than capable.

You'll find it about every opponent except for Alabama Typical stuff

Go to a Texas board and you'll see similar toward LSU.

Use the game plan we did vs Lamar Jackson and we roll.

Texas has much better talent around their QB and he’s a different type player than Lamar. He’s more Tebow than Lamar.

true, but don't denigrate a QB just because his conference is known for weak D. I mean, there's Patrick Mahomes and Baker Mayfield.

Yep, I imagine Aranda has a lot of respect for Ehlinger.

Lets put the question in another sense, how good of a QB will he be against our secondary?

,

Honestly, I think we are going to destroy him. He's going to put up serious numbers all year, but LSU will make him look bad. We've done it to Manziel and Lamar Jackson during their Heisman years. Even though Tebow scored 3 times vs us in 2007, he had his lowest QB rating of the year vs us and only completed 46% of his passes (in his Heisman year). Even though Cam Newton ran all over us his Heisman year, he had his worst game through the air vs us (10/16 86 yards).

All goes back to money. Helps to hype up the LSU game for ratings saying "Heisman candiate showdown". That's why Texas and Notre Dame are always ranked is because the insane money their fanbases bring in.

100%

That is how Tebow and Cam Newton hurt us.

Ehlinger is is a short and 3rd conversion machine with his strong running. He's like a full back that can throw. Those conversions really wear a defense down, so we need to make sure we leave them with 3rd and long more often than not to force him to throw a pass from the pocket under duress.
