Digiacomo back in lineup tomorrow
And it sounds like PM will attempt to have 2 long relief closers in fontenot and floyd. Gotta admit, i kind of like this idea.

Another note from today: Paul Mainieri said LSU will "focus on using" senior Devin Fontenot and freshman Ty Floyd late in close games.
"Once we get to the sixth inning on, if we have a chance to win, I think it will be primarily Fontenot and Floyd at that point."

Helmers will be the Sunday starter in my opinion.

Is he GTG this time? We need him if he is.

What’s the word on the left hander, Coleman? I haven’t seen him in a while. I remember him having a strong long relief outing earlier in the year.

I've been asking for it for a while.
Having Fontenot (or anyone) throw three times a week and get progressively worse with each outing does no one any good and can increase wear and tear on a guys arm.
There is no reason to manage our bullpen for 4 games week the way the major manage theirs for 6 or 7 games a week.
Longer outings with more rest between them is better than a whole bunch of one inning appearances. It's why you see so many relievers lose their effectiveness relatively quickly in the majors (there are other reasons as well, but relievers degrade quicker physically).
It can also help maximize the innings of your best pitchers. And help them prepare mentally better.

Yes I’m perfectly fine with trying to get through games 1 and 2 with Marceaux, Labas, Floyd, and Fontenot then go into game 3 with as many arms as possible until you can find a Sunday guy you can trust.

I didnt feel like typing it out, but yeah for those reasons and the pen likely being needed more in game 3. Could mean we see safford at 2nd, but who knows besides Paul

Why move Labas to GM 2 starter? Why not keep him in for that 3rd game starter and get the win? The game 3's are the closest they have been to winning since conference play has started. If you look at the MLB clubs, when a starter goes out-they don't move up the entire rotation...they just replace the player in the rotation.
