Edited 3/13 in the morning: see bump on page 4, new questions regarding parking

I'm starting to put together plans for the game in October and am looking at Air Bnbs relatively near campus. I don't plan to drive on Saturday and hoped I could just Uber...I don't think the morning will be an issue since we'll get out there early, but does anyone know what the uber situation is like on campus after games? I'm assuming it's a cluster with traffic and everyone trying to leave, but I guess I mean are there even rides available typically or do drivers not even fool with it?

Also I did post on the Travel Board for neighborhood/BR questions but may as well post here since I'm at it. Here is all I said so far "Most are south of campus along Brightside, but I have no concept of how safe or nice that area is. I see some others that look nice but they are even further south, in the Highland Rd/Kenilworth Pkwy area"...my original question was are there any streets/areas/neighborhoods to avoid? I konw there are bad parts of any town but I have no clue which areas are fine and which are sketchy.

its going to be a cluster frick... there was a story in the local news paper a couple seasons ago about how some poor baw was stuck in an uber for like 2 hours after gameday and only went like a couple miles, ended up being charged a ridiculous fair because of the surge. It was something crazy like $200

I’m going to state the obvious: the earlier you catch an Uber the better. The uber situation is the exact same as any other sec city on a gameday: huge price surge. When I was in oxford last fall I paid $35 to go 2 miles

Eta: downtown is a nice straight shot to campus so getting an air bnb in Spanish town isn’t a bad idea. Nice area too

Brightside is ok. Not great but not completely shite. It kind of depends on where on Brightside. Avoid Tigerland and the Gardere area for sure. Highland Rd south of campus is some of the most expensive real estate in the city. Kenilworth Pkwy is fine too. As a general rule you'll want to stay south of campus.

The Uber/Lyft situation is horrible, if you are driving to BR I would drive to campus Saturday morning and get a parking spot with easy access to Burbank.

You can still get hit with surge prices early on if there aren't enough Uber drivers driving that time of the day. I got hit with surge pricing in Knoxville at 10 AM this year and my 3-4 mile drive ended up costing over $100

I get that. I’m just pointing out that leaving for campus at 11 is going to cost you a lot of money regardless of where your air bnb is

I think LSU may have a deal with Lyft.. Last year part of the lot across from the Vet School had Lyft banners and was designated a Lyft drop off / pickup area

As a guy who was previously was an Uber driver, a ton of drivers, especially the newbies will try to get over there to chase after any surge pricing, so availability shouldn’t be an issue after the game.

thanks guys. I'll leave towards campus around 6 or 7 Saturday morning so not worried there. My concern was with after.

I'm renting a car in NO after I fly in (Thursda morning tentatively) and will drive up to BR Friday evening. But I'm not gonna fool with driving to/from the game Saturday because no one in my car will be able to drive at that point. I have buddies that are driving to campus and parkign and tailgating so I'm going to meet up with them when I get there.

That should work out fine. I would suggest walking to Fred's after the game and waiting out the surge there. They would have no problem picking you up from the bars and they are walking distance from the stadium. Wait out the traffic and surge there

I’ve been lucky to have a condo right off campus and now family with a house next to campus, but when they inevitably changes I would suggest just walking to the chimes and having drinks until traffic clears or just walking up to a tailgate where they’ll give you food and drinks

Now I’m also assuming Georgia doesn’t crush LSU, which is unlikely. If Brennan isn’t the answer then let’s just say traffic should be smoothe leaving campus by the fourth quarter

I’ve never had an issue with uber coming or going from campus on gameday. You shouldn’t have an issue. Also, consider adding the lyft app.

It shouldn’t be too hard to catch an Uber after y’all whip our arse. Campus will clear out pretty quick

As you said, prior to games isn't bad, just get there early. After will be tough to get an uber. I would recomend either hanging out around north gates of campus for 2-3 hours, or getting a place within walking distance. Don't stay directly north of campus. Don't stay near Tigerland. Everywhere else close by should be okay. Would recommend Southdowns or Garden District if you can find an AirBnB. If not, a hotel downtown is gonna be your best bet. Let me know if you need help identifying those areas.

Good thing you're asking today, gotta start saving now to cover the Ubers on gameday in 7 months.

Uber on a game day sounds like a good way to get tagged for a $200 fare.

There is nothing more frustrating than trying to figure out an away gameday, where to park, what areas are good. The locals know the in's and out's popular cut thoughts..and it's hard enough for them

Unfortuantely I can't really go this route, I'll be with my wife and the "wait it out at a college bar" option probably won't work (dammit..), plus for flights on Sunday heading back to ATL the only options seem to either be late as hell or early as hell, and I work MOnday so early is gonna win out. I looked into flying out of BTR but ulatimely I think driving back to MSY is gonna be the best bet, so with me having to get up early as shite Sunday I really need to get back to my air bnb as quickly as possible after the game.
