I'm a big supporter of Coach O. I like him and hope he is a huge success at LSU. That said, the early season play was not good by any standard.

After Troy, the effort improved. The offense began to click. Injured players began to return. Wins starting to pile up.

Against Bama, LSU was not beaten at the line of scrimmage for the most part. One Bama score came after a bad throw that resulted in an INT and a short field.

I hope Canada stays. I'd like to see Year 2 of his offense. I'd like to see Brennan and/or Narcisse in action with a full understanding of the playbook.

The future of LSU football is so much brighter than most of the teams in the SEC. We have the players on campus to win and win big. Our coordinators are both very good.

The complainers and whiners will continue to do so. Always have. I'll just wait till next year knowing that special things can happen with this team.

That should be the goal of every team, to get better as the year progresses. That's "the process."

Nothing matters, here (tRant), except the losses.

This team had every reason to quit after getting spanked by MSU, beaten by Troy, and down 20 points to Auburn.

The fact that they didn't - and actually improved from that point - is a good sign. As much as the Coach O haters may not like it, that's a sign of good coaching.

It is good that they didn't fold after the dreadful start, but 5 of the 6 teams that they beat after that rough start have fired their coach. It wasn't exactly a murderer's row.

I am encouraged by some of the things I saw in the latter part of the season, but I am tempering that based on the competition and the uncertainty about the OC position (yet again).

I absolutely love it. The more miserable the idiots are the happier I am. I really don't think they are LSU fans anyway so let them eat it.

With Guice and Key absent or not 100%, too many injuries on OL, a QB who is not a playmaker, and playing 20 true freshmen any team could have had problems to start the season.

3-1 against 3 teams who fired their coach is a "damn strong finish"?

I mean, OK. O is to be commended that we didn't go completely off the rails. I've already done so. My question, however, still stands. Why be a big supporter of his?

Why? Probably because I can see his professional growth post Ole Miss and the programs he's been associated with are all Big Time winners.

I also want a HC that loves LSU. Saban liked LSU, he never loved it. If he was honest, he'd tell you he doesn't love Bama either.

Do I like the "local boy" does good aspect of Coach O? Sure, why wouldn't I? The better question would be "Why don't you"?

I'm glad Jimbo Fisher passed on LSU last year. Without J. Winston, FSU isn't National Champion. Since J. Winston, they haven't come close.

LSU played 20 true freshmen this year. That's quite a bit of game time learning that happened. They didn't quit. They played hard. They improved.

No matter how many times you so this, it's just not true.

In fact, I'll just start saying that the O sycophants are not really LSU fans. How could they be? They're fine with one of the preeminent programs in the nation hiring someone whose qualifications didn't justify the hire. That's intentionally endangering the program.

Oh boy. There it is. At least you admit it. He loved LSU so much in the past that he recruited against it and bad mouthed it.

You're a simpleton.

Well, I've been here since September 2003. Unfortunately, my first moniker has been administratively retired.

So, Clearly, I've been here from the beginning. Something, you have not.

It was horrendous before.

Why would you leave off 3 of the wins after the turnaround?

We were 6-1 to finish the season after the horrid 3-2 start.

Don't cherry pick stats to make your point look better.

While this may be true it doesn't mean that the outcome can't be good for the program.

O - up to Florida was what I think a lot of people expected. Perhaps O after Florida is what we can expect going forward.
He did a great job after that Troy loss and beat an elite program on the way (first time we've done that since....... '11?)..
He's got some upcoming tests in (maybe) replacing an OC, implementing a new QB, finishing up his first full recruiting cycle, and pushing for all the talent available in that 2019 haul.
Not saying he shouldn't remain on a short leash, but there is no reason to not be optimistic.

What does this mean?

We beat #3 South Carolina in 2012.

Beat the SEC Champ Auburn team that went to the NCG in 2013.

Beat #3 Ole Miss team that beat Alabama in 2014.

Beat top 10 Florida on the way to a #2 November ranking in 2015.
