I generally agree with your analysis. I think starting catcher is Milazzo with McManus filling in. Braden Doughty's role will be the same as in past years due to his defensive deficiencies.
Infield should be 1st-Morgan, 2nd-Doughty, SS-Thompson, 3rd-Merrifield. I know nothing about a promise to Berry and, as yet, I've seen nothing that makes me think he has earned a starting spot. Morgan may have the same shoulder problem that limited him last year, he is not throwing or batting during scrimmages.
Outfield should begin the season the same way it was last season; RF-Crews, CF-DiGiacomo, LF-Dugas. I like what I've seen from the younger guys (Drost, Stevenson, Pearson, and Haddad) but they will be backups to start the season.
Starting pitchers should be the three I saw Friday night. Reyzelman, Coleman, and Cooper based on one outing. Obviously it's too early to predict the weekend rotation but all three looked sharp. I like the experienced Devin Fontenot in the closer role. We have a few veteran relievers to fill the middle innings and a few more newcomers with potential coming from the bullpen. If the youngsters can make the transition to D1 ball, this staff could be pretty good.
LSU could field a very good offensive and/or defensive team depending on need this season based on the talent available. I think their success will depend on pitching, as usual, and timely hitting. I'm looking forward to the spring and Baseball at the Box.

Is there any truth to the rumor that Crews has agreed to a Marucci NIL deal that keeps him at LSU through his senior year?
I'm not aware of any NIL deals. I will say this about Crews. He could have easily went pro out of HS, so that says something about his priorities. I couldn't imagine a scenario where he is here as a senior but who knows.
Johnson has also said he will use NIL to get HS kids on campus, so why wouldn't he use NIL to keep them on campus.

Johnson thought enough of Cooper to pitch him first inning this Friday. In Arizona Cooper was one of their primary bullpen pitchers as a freshmen for Johnson. Definitely someone to keep an eye on.

I've tried so hard to figure out how he makes this team, but I just don't think he does.

Appreciate the write up. I was out of town this weekend and wish I could have brought my son to a couples games. Maybe they’ll do it again soon.

Also, the OF is fricking loaded. I think Drost is going to be hard to bench. A healthy Gio is an excellent average guy. Stevenson is a stud. Then you have Crews and Dugas that have locked up spots. Honestly hope all those guys see plenty of ABs OOC.

Honest question. What’s the O/U for Milazzos BA for you (anyone can answer of course) to be “happy” with it?

Drost did hit Coleman (lefty) and Johnson has mentioned him as one that has impressed. He reminds me somewhat of Diechmann. Once Diechmann got rolling sophomore or Junior year he scared a lot of pitchers. I could see Drost following that same pattern.
Yep, Drost is going to blow up this year IMO. The raw potential is there.

Plus Pearson and other guys like Morgan, Safford, and Simon that can play OF. It's a deep group when you can only play 3 of them.

Didn’t Gio miss most of the weekend because of injury again?

Honestly, I'm not big on BA for a really good defensive catcher like Milazzo. OBP, runs, and RBIs are important for a guy like him. If he hits .225, obp above .300 with 8 HRs and 30 rbis, I'm good with it.

I went to the camp this weekend. I’m starting to get a little information on the scrimmages

Gio was replaced pretty early Friday, so possibly injured.
.250 for Milazzo
I'm not giving up on Beloso yet.

Gio will still not be a factor on this team, Elle

He will be on the team though, Jack.
