My first tangible recollection of an LSU game was the 1972 Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl. We ended up losing to Tennessee 24-17, but were down big and came back to 24-17. Bert Jones was the QB, had a terrible game by the way, but my Dad was explaining all the LSU traditions, being known for great defense, etc. and I was hooked from then on.

My earliest recollections of the Tigers are just the games on the radio playing in our little chicken coop house in Jennings on fall Saturday nights. The first time I can really remember being caught up in the game was the 1971 Notre Dame game, televised nationally, I could finally see what was going on on the radio every Saturday night. My dad and my older sisters and I watched the game and celebrated the win and from that time on I was hooked.

28-8. I was there. (High School Student)

I was hooked on the overall atmosphere and Tiger Band.

Back then, LSU fans in Tiger Stadium were real men. God forbid you try to get up and leave with all your stuff before the game is over.

Stark contrast to today with all the very important snowflakes that have much more important things to do on a Saturday Night and simply can't be inconvenienced in the slightest.

You know, all the "It's my money and my ticket and I'll do as I damn well Please" very important Candy Arse types.....

1958 season Sugar Bowl. Our first television's reception was crummy. I thought it was snowing in NOLA. Beat Clemson though. Natty, etc. Didn't hear much from then on from the UPI poll after they ranked Iowa first with 7-2-1 record, I believe it was. Not sure if they even won their bowl game.

The overtime win over Tennessee in Saban’s first year is when my passion for LSU football began.

Up until that point, I was a student and LSU football was merely something to do, but I didn’t necessarily have a passion for LSU football until that game.

I grew up about 10 minutes from the stadium. My parents had season tickets. Many of my earliest memories were playing in the backyard wearing the old Hutch LSU football uniform (early 80's). My dad would cut the grass on Sat. morning, then the rest of the day was for watching football. When my parents went to the games on Sat. nights, I stayed at my grandmother's house, and we listened to the game on the radio. LSU football WAS the fall for me.

Pretty much everything I owned had something to do with LSU. I didn't even know the NFL existed outside of maybe the Dallas Cowboys (who happened to be my grandpartents'--from Dallas--favorite team) and the fact my grandpa was a bookie.

Started going to games when I was 3, but the game that put the hook in me was the Georgia game in 03. Can vividly recall Goergia scoring and everyone starting the L-S-U chant and it getting LOUD. Then Skyler catching that pass to seal the win. My God. I was absolutely hooked. Stayed and got tons of autographs and pictures. Went to every home game that year except Western Carolina and Arky, went to the Natty and saw so many titties on Bourbon with "Get Low" being played on repeat and everyone losing their shite. It was amazing. From that season on I have truly bled purple and gold. I get choked up thinking about being a little kid and walking up the ramp to see all those people and just being in awe, happy and excited that this many people love the same team I do. I don't understand how anyone could root for any team but LSU. There's just something special about it.

Nov 4, 1972 I was listening to WWL in rural Nebraska (nothing else to do on a Sat night when I was 15). John Ferguson & Walter Hill were heard clearly (the weather must have been good!) describing Bert Jones' TD pass which tied the game with 2 sec left. The roar of the crowd got my attention and I wondered what kind of magical place Tiger Stadium must be?? Lived in Nebraska and Minnesota for many years still listening whenever the weather was good and attending games in TS whenever I could. Moved to NOLA in 2011. Always a Tiger!
