Why do people act like Lane is the only coach who takes better jobs?

He doesn't move around more than anyone else really, the only weird departure he had was Tennessee.

He’s had 7 jobs in 20ish years not sure if that’s a lot or not

No one is acting like this.

But c'mon dude, be real, the way he left Ole Miss and for who he left Ole Miss for was a circus.

Think of how mad LSU fans were when Saban went to Alabama... and that was two years after he left LSU for the NFL to a hero's goodbye.

It worked out great for us because we got the hottest coaching candidate in the portal/NIL era, but lets not act like what happened was a normal coaching change.

A lot of these people forget or unaware USC was a much better job at the time(before the sanctions from the reggie bush stuff) in addition to him coaching there previously.

You can really tell who has never left a job for a better position in their lives before in threads like these.

Even that wasn’t that crazy. Previously was at USC and was very close to Carroll who excelled there. Easy to see why he’d want to try it out.

I don't think anyone is faulting Kiffin for taking better jobs. He just kinda makes a mess in how he handles the departures because he's a weird cat.

I mean, he's still subtling trolling Ole Miss on twitter every now and then and from an LSU perspective, it's hilarious, but from an outsider perspective, it's odd.

How did Saban leave LSU and Miami in his wake before becoming the the Goat? Then ask yourself, how did Kiffin leave Ole miss? And be honest knucklehead?

In a vacuum, no not crazy, but whether it's him, the team he's leaving or the fanbase of the team he's leaving, weird and funny shite follows him.

Raiders: Open media war with Al Davis before firing
Tennessee: Campus riot the night it's announced he's leaving for USC
USC: Told to not get on the team plane
Alabama: Told to not coach the championship game
FAU: Only normal coupling/decoupling
Ole Miss: Marty Smith driving on a dusty road to cut off Kiffin before he gets on the PJ to BR after a 2-3 week period of "what the frick is going on" that ultimately ends with him leaving a team with a chance to play for a natty?

If I have to guess, the way he eventually leaves LSU will be weird as hell also.

He basically kept telling Miami no until Huizenga was offering ownership stake.

Again, Saban left LSU on great terms to the point where, less than a year later, he's getting a standing ovation at Tiger Stadium when the Saints "hosted" the Dolphins there after Katrina.

I don't know, I think people are looking at it with confirmation bias and seeing what they want to see.

I don't remember the Raiders drama but playing devil's advocate:

quote:

Tennessee: Campus riot the night it's announced he's leaving for USC

Can't blame Kiffin for how Tennessee fans act.
quote:

USC: Told to not get on the team plane

I think it was actually the bus, he was fired on the tarmac after they had returned to Los Angeles, IIRC.
quote:

Alabama: Told to not coach the championship game

Because Saban felt he was distracted with putting his staff together. Is it immature to be focused on your next job before you're finished at another? Sure.
quote:

Ole Miss: Marty Smith driving on a dusty road to cut off Kiffin before he gets on the PJ to BR after a 2-3 week period of "what the frick is going on" that ultimately ends with him leaving a team with a chance to play for a natty?

How was Kiffin really responsible for most of the Ole Miss drama? He said he'd make a decision once the season was over and did. It was just a massive media storm because Ole Miss was a playoff team, LSU is a huge job, and Kiffin is famous.

It seems like a major contributor to the "drama" around his departures are the fanbases being pissed because he was doing a good job and is leaving.

Like I said before, it's not always Kiffin responsible.

But it's undeniable he has had some weird relocations.

Your mistake was that you think I care what I think nameless message board posters think of me.

Clearly, it bothers you if you are quitting threads because of posters.

If it makes you feel any better though, I nor probably anyone else knew you "quit" ATL Threads. I honestly don't recall you as a poster.
