re: Duration of Rebuild?

Look at the schedule next year and think about what every other team is losing. Trask gone, Mond Gone, Nix sucks, Franks gone. We get all of them at home. Bama is gonna lose the most production they have had in a long time. Mac Jones, Najee Harris, Smith, waddle gone. We play UCLA lol. 10-2 minimum next year. Top 10. And 2022 is another championship team. The future is bright.

2019, 2020, and 2021 recruiting classes are going to have LSU right back in the thick of things next season. LSU will still be a young team but they will be dangerous. Offense will be very good and defense will have a nice influx of young talent, particularly in the back seven (Raesjon Davis, Sage Ryan, Derrick Davis, Nate Wiggins).
If LSU lands Korey Foreman and Maason Smith the 4-3 will be far more viable and strong up front. DT should be a strong group (Roy, Guillory, Taylor) but Foreman would be a huge addition as a true every down DE.

O has had 4 recruiting classes. We’re shouldn’t have to rebuild, we should reload. Sure, we lost a lot this year so no one expected a top team, but this disaster is inexcusable.
Problem is the entire 2017 recruiting class is gone including four 1st rounders (Chaisson, Jefferson, Queen, and CEH), 2nd rounder Delpit, 3rd rounder Phillips, and 4th rounder Charles. You've also got opt-outs Shelvin and Vincent. LSU is really missing Kary Vincent out there.
And the 2018 recruiting class was a huge failure.
2019 was a good but not quite elite class, but a nice foundation for the 2021 team (Stingley, Emery, TDP, Palmer, Hampton). Just going to have to see some player development from the other guys or they will be passed up by the elite 2020 and 2021 classes.

ETA: If LSU isn’t top 10 next year they won’t be far from it.
Based upon what? Do you see a good offensive line or a solid running game?
How about a defense that is capable of stopping running water?
Where are the linebackers that help transform the defense?
Orgeron just squandered the greatest year in history with this sorry excuse of a football team. I think the problems go beyond the scheme and talent.

What foundation is that? Heavy on skill players and severely lacking on the lines of scrimmage?
Posted on 11/15/20 at 7:57 am to The First Cut
We should have beaten State and Missouri, that was 100% no adjustments

Jefferson, Chiasson, and Phillips committed after Miles’ firing.
Check out the commitment date. Funny how that works.

If you didn’t see a collapse coming this year it’s because you weren’t paying attention or you don’t know better.
What do you consider a collapse? Losing 3 or 4 games was expected. The first losing season in 21 years was not, and you’ll never convince me otherwise. No excuse for that ever happening.

CEH had to be re-recruited too, after he decommited

Then you’re like OP and not savvy enough to have seen the train coming.
Yes, it’s the first losing season in years, but you’ve had no rent a win games to pad the record. Miles had a 3-5 and 4-4 conference record but padded the overall record with rent a wins. LSU doesn’t have that luxury this season.
You lost over 90% of your production from last year and had to replace them with much younger, first year starters. Much of the 2018 class isn’t even on campus anymore. So this season is comprised of players being first year starters and from a poor 2018 class or too many of them very young, from the 2019 and 2020 classes.
This dip is a result of mass exodus, coupled with the dearth of talent in the 2018 class, which would be your juniors leading the team. This was all very easy to see back in August.
Things will get righted when you get past that hole.

We’re looking at 3-7 if you split Arkansas and Ole Miss. You saw that back in August?

LSU could lose every game the next 2 years. No one is coming up with that buyout money.
For reference... as far as I know Charlie Weis is the biggest buyout paid in history at 19 million. That’s from a school with 120 million annually in revenue. LSU made something around 95 million in 2019.
O’s buyout is 70% of his remaining contract. I don’t see this firing to be possible until mid at least 2024.

We just won a championship and you people are saying we won’t be relevant for 3 years and O’s “only” strength is recruiting? We really have some of the dumbest and most spoiled fans in the world.
