I'm guessing a minimum of three years before LSU football is competitive enough to be ranked in the top 10.

What say you?

I honestly think it depends on how many guys come back next year. If we get a large percentage of them back, I think we contend again next year if things are back to normal without COVID. The defense has to get on track, but I don’t think we are as far away as most believe.

We have the dumbest fanbase ever.

ETA: If LSU isn’t top 10 next year they won’t be far from it.

O has had 4 recruiting classes. We’re shouldn’t have to rebuild, we should reload. Sure, we lost a lot this year so no one expected a top team, but this disaster is inexcusable.

That’s pretty pathetic for a program like LSU to be out of the top 10 for 3 years straight. That would seriously hurt recruiting, Eds only strength.

Lsu is in the top 10 next year or has a new coach. Should be a pretty stacked and experienced team next year as a lot of our contributors now are freshman and sophomores and will add another top 5 class on top of that

Does anyone think Brennan will return for two more years? This year doesn't count. If he could completely rehab and we can have a normal off-season of development 2021 and even more 2022 could be present an opportunity to rise again.

Don't be so dramatic. CFB these days is about offense, and more specifically, solid QB play. LSU's QB room is as solid as it's been in a long, long time. They'll get the trenches sorted out, and the safety position has already been addressed with commits from the #1 & #2 ranked safeties in the country. This year sucks but the future is bright.

If Brennan had a full season under his belt, I think we would be a top 10 team next season. Unfortunately, he will not have a full season under his belt...but top 25 should be the floor for next season. After next season, it really depends how the roster shakes out - if Brennan is back for his "senior" season, then I think we're in the conversation for the playoffs (but Brenna back for his "senior" season likely means we lose some QBs along the way, and the year after is as rough as this year.

Yes, I know...defense and offensive line. I think those areas get corrected.

This is college football not the NFL is dosent take years to rebuild. If LSU finishes in recruiting like they should they would have a top 3 class and would be right back in the top 10 next year. The biggest problem of this year team comes from that horrible 2018 class it will go down as the worst class LSU had this century. Go look at all the misses in that class and you see why we suck this year. LSU should never have a class rank that low under O.

Absolutely no excuse for a 2-3 year rebuild. We bring in 25 top flight players every fricking year. If we can’t sustain success then we definitely don’t have the right person in charge of the program. Last year was great... but it was only one year and the only real success we’ve had under Coach O. The other big programs don’t lie in their own shite after a good year and I’m not accepting it either.

2 max.

I still Expect a bounce back year next year. 10 wins. Then a couple of really good seasons.

Compare the remnants of the 2017 & 2018 class to the 2019, 2020 and 2021 classes.

The future success of this football team is solely based on the coaching staff. Like previous posters stated, the talent is here. It's up to the coaches to put the players in the best position to succeed. I feel like brining in Pelini and Linehan were mistakes. Maybe the lack of an off-season hurt what they were trying to implement but at the end of the day no other schools wanted them and other staffs had to deal with the same circumstances. Offensively and defensively we seem to have no ability to make in game adjustments. You here Coach O talk about making adjustments during the week but never during the game. And outside of Corey Raymond and in my opinion Russ Calaway, none of our position coaches seem to be able to develop guys. Mickey Joseph is a good recruiter but the receivers made a jump under Brady. Bill Johnson has the name and credentials but I don't see the leap in production that was expected when he took over for Meatball. The jury is still out on Coach Faulk and it seems we've had this discussion about the O-line struggling every year.

So don’t expect a Miami type situation?

Did you anticipate in your wildest dreams seeing this type of a total collapse less than a year after winning a Natty?

So, two years instead of three? And you call me dumb for being off in my guess by 12 months.

Nice.

If LSU wisely retains Coach Pelini, the team will be back in the Top Ten next year.

If you didn’t see a collapse coming this year it’s because you weren’t paying attention or you don’t know better. If you don’t see a rebound coming next year, the same applies.
