Are we going in the right direction with dual threat QB's???? Seems to me they struggle too much in the passing game and reading defenses.I rather have a pass first QB.
Just curious? Name the pass first QBs in college you would prefer over a dual threat QB. And list where their team is ranked. Thanks.

It all comes down to the scheme

Not true. A lot of "dual-threats" are marginal passers. The ones that can pass extremely well just get higher ratings.

I think you are confusing "dual threat qb" with "running qb"

so we wouldn't take Mariotta the Oregon QB, or Bamas QB or Auburns QB or Jamis Winston, or Dak Prescott. All those teams have duel threat QB's so I'm sure they must be at the bottom of the rankings.

If LSU could recruit a Mariota or Winston, I'd be pretty happy. Obviously they can't.

t we should focus on recruiting a GREAT offensive line
You really blew this whole thing open.
Someone call Les and tell him to try and get GREAT offensive lineman instead of just good ones

So what is the name of the great "single threat pro style" QB that they can recruit. Also why do you think our odds are so much greater of landing this great "pro style" QB over a great "duel threat" QB.

It's pretty obvious that Cam/Miles are looking for a mobile QB over a pure pocket passer. I'd bet future recruiting reflects this.

well being they are much easier to find I don't doubt that

Blake Sims, the dual threat QB at Bama? Is that your answer? Or is there another non-dual threat QB somewhere to support your argument against dual threats?

your link only shows a picture.
Go check his profile out on 247. Espn is a complete joke when it comes to recruiting. thats not where they make money.

Blake sims was a 4* athlete that played qb and running back. He was listed as a dual threat qb.
We have a pro style qb and he was the starter. Just shows our fans really dont know jack shite.

Last 2 NC s Mauck and Flynn, game managers, but Mettenberger (pure pocket passer) fits LSU s offense the best. I know hard to find but we are LSU, we recruit great but our good QB s are few and too far between. Passing ability, complememts, improves our great running game.Got to have somebody that can at least make the lb s,secondary respect the pass. That didnt happen this year. Amazed we could run as effective as we did.

Matt Mauck was not a game manager. Not sure why he keeps getting that label. He made big plays and was turnover prone

. Marcus Mariota, Oregon
There's a faction of NFL scouts that believed Mariota would have been the top quarterback in the 2014 class if he decided to jump to the pros following a spectacular sophomore campaign. However, the 6-foot-4, 212-pound playmaker elected to return to Eugene to continue to refine his footwork and fundamentals in the pocket. More importantly, Mariota is on a mission to lead the Ducks to the College Football Playoff, which would showcase his exceptional leadership skills and poise as a potential franchise quarterback. With a rare combination of skills as an athletic pocket passer, Mariota is a new-school quarterback capable of taking the NFL by storm in a few years.

. Bryce Petty, Baylor
Art Briles' system is as quarterback-friendly as they come, but observers shouldn't overlook Petty's talent as a pinpoint passer. The 6-3, 220-pound senior completed 62 percent of his passes for 4,200 yards with a 32:3 touchdown-to-interception ratio. It was most impressive that he took superb care of the football while firing bullets to every area of the field. Sure, the frenetic nature of Baylor's offense creates plenty of easy opportunities for Petty, but the consistent production and performance over the course of the season makes it hard to dismiss his chances of developing into a quality starter at the next level
