SEC Baseball Twitter

I've never been, so I'm trying to take in as much advice as possible. Figured it'd be of interest to those in a similar boat.
quote:

For those fortunate enough to see your squad make it to Omaha I cannot encourage going enough. It’s such an awesome experience and feels very unique compared to other sporting events.

I was able to go in 2021 and have a few personal Dos and Don’ts!

quote:

DON’T waste time on those awful Jell-O shots.

They’re mass packaged and terrible, and most people don’t even drink them. They buy them to add to a teams tally then give (or throw) them away. This is by far the worst trend at the CWS.

quote:

DO stay downtown if you can

I admittedly stayed with a friend who was already there which was about the only was I was swinging it, but it made it so much fun. Bonus points if you can stay at your team hotel. They typically have events & you can greet the team before/after games

quote:

DO go to Lefty’s and The Blatt.

I sadly didn’t get to spend much time outside of the hotel lobby working during the day or the park at night, so no great food/drink recs. But those are two of the many fun bars around the park to visit before/during/after games. It was a blast.

quote:

DON’T tell anybody I told you, but on multiple occasions I bought the cheapest OF seat, and sat in the infield. Ticketmaster wouldn’t let them sell after first pitch, so if a seat was for sale 1 min before the game started then nobody was going to show up and boot us out.

quote:

DO go on Ticket master ASAP after games end and new ticket sessions open. If you get them direct the prices aren’t bad. If you don’t, the resell market gets steep the further you make it.

quote:

DO go to The Drover.

Sadly I didn’t make it myself, but I’ve only heard good things and you should go if you can.

quote:

DO go to the Zoo (especially if you have kids) heard so many families say this.

DO walk around Old Market. No specific recs, but it was nice to get a change of pace & check it out between working in hotels lobby’s and pounding Miller lites at sports bars.

quote:

DO go to the old Rosenblatt & visit the sports memorabilia shop across the street.

DON’T walk from downtown to do so.

“It’ll be a good way to work off a hangover” you think. It’s not. I promise it’s not.

quote:

And finally, DON’T let your phone die at a bar before game 2 of the National Championship series because the entire city will be booking flights out after and you’ll wake up hungover, with horrible one way flight prices, and have an 8 hour layover in Minneapolis.

Jell-O shots are the worst regardless.

Curious about the ticket allotment/release that he’s referencing.

We are staying at the Doubletree downtown on Dodge Street. Spent last night and old market for dinner and ate at blue sushi. Place was crawling with people and there hot babes everywhere.

We did check out a speakeasy last night, called the wicked rabbit, solid spot with lots of hookers. For being a speakeasy, it is pretty chill, they had people there in gym shorts and a T-shirt, which was pretty interesting.

Yeah I would pass on the jello shots. If they made them in-house it’d be different

Go to Lefty's early and stay at Lefty's. This bar is always taken over by a single fanbase given it's setup.

Omaha Tap House is my best recommendation for food

I seem to remember last time I went being able to go on Ticketmaster at night after the days ganes were over and being able to purchase a ticket to one of the next days games. That may be what he’s talking about.

We used that several times to get an extra ticket since we were only able to get 2 through LSU as season ticket holders.

It looks like the Florida/Virginia game ticket prices are starting to come down some. Hopefully our game follows suit.

We did the opposite in 2017; bought lower seats down the 3rd base line and immediately went to the bleachers. At the time, you had to wait in line for general admission and we didn’t want to do that. IMO bleachers are the better experience in Omaha if you’re not in the grandstand.

A few newer things since LSU has been in town.

They completely redid the parks downtown. They aren't finished with all of it, but a portion called Gene Lehey Mall is open and it is very nice. Slides, swings, playgrounds, lots of things for kids to do for free. Usually, some food vendors are around.

New science museum just opened a couple of months ago on the Riverfront if that's your sort of thing on a day off. Haven't been, but heard good things.

The area north of the stadium isn't as desolate. The Millwork building has a brewery, a good coffee shop, and ice cream shop.

Blackstone is a newer popular bar hopping area a bit west of downtown. I'd just recommend going out in the Old Market or tents by the stadium though.
