Stop bashing Uncle Verne.

He brings fun to the broadcast. Be may be busted now but I have always liked him.

Ron Franklin is up there as one of the best.
Musberger and Jackson are legends.
Chris Fowler is good but I still see him as the gameday host.
Brad Nessler is good but too dry for my tastes.
I like an energetic announcer who enjoys the pagaentry of cfb and not an x and o guy.

Ron Franklin on ESPN Prime Time - I remember him calling 1997 LSU- FLA game. Got up at 3 a.m. to watch the replay!

I agree Franklin was really good. Gottfried got tongue tied at times but they worked well together.

One of the best things about Ron Franklin is that he "gets" SEC football, the traditions, rivalries, Saturday Night in Death Valley. He set the stage and the atmosphere like others can't, and he was truly involved in the game. The fact that he's from Oxford, MS gave him a perspective of it all that most announcers don't have.

I hear ya !

Franklin , Gottfried, and Adrian Karsten were the fricking dream team.

Miss piggy screwed that up and my boy Adrian offed himself tragically.

1990 College Football Saturday nights were the bomb !!

Radio = Jack Buck and Hank Stram
On Monday night was the epitome of professional play by play and color commentary...

X10....used to listen to many a NFL game on Monday nights and playoff games in the 70's and 80's on radio. The old AM station would come and go and you were fortunate to be able to catch 50% of what went on. Can still hear Jack Buck's call of Montana's throw to Clark that was simply called, "the catch". "Montana lines up at the five... and on third down and three he rolls right, looking to throw... looking to throw... and he throws into the end zone... Touchdown! Touchdown! Touchdown, San Francisco, by Dwight Clark!"

Only when LSU isn't playing. I can barely hear when we're playing.

I've been watching all the games through live stream on my laptop, so I'm not sure if they're is a separate pre-game program for internet viewers, but my God.

It looks like CBS pulled two kids straight out of the communications program from LA City College. One was a lily white girl who had a giggly, lisp going on, and the other kid was of Arab-American descent. You could tell, neither was steeped in football tradition.

It was like hearing Bobby Jindal trying to tell me how to make and authentic "cajun" jambalaya.
