I don't think he was playing bad he was just getting very unlucky. Lots of hard hit balls straight to gloves. Glad to see the pendulum swing

.319 BA would be good enough for 6th in MLB right now.

.532 slugging would be 12th.

.167 SBs per game would be 15th.

Plus 2 SC top 10 defensive plays. Yea it's an electric 12 game stretch

Crews isn't "figuring it out." He was a basically can't miss prospect who is a line drive hitter which doesn't match the MLBs morbid fascination with 3 true outcomes approach. They insisted he change his swing to become a power hitter and of course it took time to adjust to their stupid philosophy which has torpedoed a number of promising players' careers. But Crews being the athlete he is, is finding a way to make it work. It's my understanding Nationals fans are not happy with the front office for screwing up a sure thing and potential yearly all star

There are MANY things Nationals fans are not happy with the front office about. Mainly our awful bullpen that has cost us 3 straight 9th innings losses to the hated Phillies.

But, back to Crews. I watch nearly every Nats game, and he just positively affects winning even if his average doesn't reflect it. Lights out defender, great base runner.

And yes, he is chasing way too much. If he can fix that and turn those chases into walks or hits, he will be an on-base machine and an all-star, in my opinion.

I'd like to see Crews get it together but he current has a .260 OBP and an 81 OPS. Those numbers need to drastically improve. They have with his current two week hot streak as he was at a 58 OPA and a .240 OBP a few weeks ago.

Hopefully he has found some rhythm and can become at least a consistent MLB like Mike Fontentont or even DJ LeMahieu. Even if he never becomes Joey Belle there is some upside despite being 24 and a bit old for a "prospect" these days.
