First and foremost I look forward to my first trip to death valley. I plan on getting there a day early and taking in all Baton Rouge has to offer. Heading that way with some close friends who bleed purple and yellow.
Secondly, this is the type game every one hopes is an injury free game. There is no denying that there is a size and talent gap between the two programs. LSU should have no problem shutting down our run game. It's a triple option out of the gun. Because of this, there is no chop blocking off the line. It's more of a zone blocking scheme. Also timing is paramount for our offense to run smoothly. Being the first game of the year, I doubt that timing is on point. Crowd noise will also make an impact and I think we'll see the ball hit the turf a few times. We led the nation in turnover diff last year having only 5 turnovers all season last year...I think we'll have a minimum of two in this game. It will really depend on how the ball bounces. If we can limit turn overs and our defense comes away with a couple themselves, the game could be close in the second half. LSU should be able to mop the floor with us but won't. No clue what the spread will be, I think we'll cover and lose. I just pray that there are zero injuries on either side of the ball. Neither team needs to lose a player in a game of little significance.

what is your counterpoint to my assertion that losing the Troy game was a massive coaching failure and demonstrated a lack of focus that was perpetuated by the coaching staff?
We get it. It was a shitfest. 4 turnovers, giving up 191 yards rushing to one back, no Derrius Guice. A total flustercuck.
However, it’s one game. Get the frick over it.
Arnsparger lost to Miami of Ohio. Did that make him a bad coach?

The Troy game was brought up because Reekeye said it was "some bullshite" that I asserted that our coach doesn't always have the guys ready to play in games. I had to use the game to make my point.
Blame Reekeye for challenging something we all know to be true.

Most of you dont know much about GSU's past in FCS. GSU won 6 FCS National Championship starting in 1985, under Erk Russell, running the Paul Johnson style of Spread Triple Option, which really doesn't mean much to you.
HC Fritz changed from the PJ system, 5 years ago, & GSU now runs the Shotgun Option where the QB is not under center. When Fritz left after his 2nd year the program went to hell with 3 different head coaches.
Last year, running the Shotgun option, under our new HC and staff GSU made a come back from 2017 from a 2-10 season in 2017 to a 10-3 season in 2018 using the Shotgun Option.

If GSU has progressed over last years 10-3 team as I suspect, then you may have a battle on your hands.

I disagree, the Clamps beat us down!

The Shotgun Option really doesn't use cut blocking!

Please understand that 2018 10-3 season last year was from a 2-10 season under a different coach the year before. So yes I'll take a 48 yard field goal even to win a low level bowl.

Scott Slone - Defensive Coordinator at GSU.
Was brought in from App State.
The defense had 15 interceptions and was a big part of the +22 scoring margin that led the FBS.
The Eagles posted the best improvement in the FBS in defensive yards per play from 2017 to 2018, as well, moving up 72 spots in a year. The group finished first in the Sun Belt in interceptions, second in turnovers forced, third in total defense, third in rush defense .
If Sloan has improved last year defensive squad over last years then we will be sound on defense. The trick is the offense and how much it has improved.

Gaso01 - Let's go eagles!
3 yard runs, move the chains, drain the clock and keep your offense off the field....that is our only chance at keeping it close. If you guys struggle with your new offense with a few offsides, holding ect then it could be fun.
Really Gaso01 you want 4 yards per carry.

JJ06 GT fan "They are liars and pussies. No UGA players ever got hurt going against Tech. Kinda funny UGA fans talking about injuries when they paralyzed a player from Southern a few years ago.
A lot of teams that play T-Option or teams that use cut blocking complain about it. The offensive lineman drives at the defensive line mans knees or thighs. If the defensive line man has not been taught how to properly counter that and plants his cleats. then an injury can happen. but I never remember many at all when GSU cut blocked.
The bigger problem is the accidental chop block. When the defensive line man is being blocked from above and is cut blocked by another defensive player.

@ Thunderbird
I hear ya but it can be done differently.
Gary Paterson was known for a dedicated practice weekly throughout season specifically against airforce triple option. FWIW.
