Does one of the best WRs in the country scare us when we had a complete shite-show of secondary last season?

No. Placing a bet on his over rec yds + score a TD = profit

LSU controls their own destiny week 1. If they show up like they have the past 4 years in the opening game they will lose again.

FSU was a good team last year ; but fsu , ucla, ms st we’re not good teams in previous seasons. Scared of LSU shitting the bed .again . not scared of USC.

Did Keon Coleman last year? Rinse/Repeat. Need a total different looking secondary than last season to slow him down.

Do I think it is highly likely he performs well against LSU? Yes. Does that scare me? No.

Unfortunately one of our CBs is suspended now and we still don’t have much talent there. Hope Raymond can at least coach some technique like he has done in the past

He wasn't even one of their top WR's last year
The return game scares me more because you usually see errors in special teams that first game but he's not new and I'm sure LSU is well aware of him.

He was a true freshman behind 2 seniors who got drafted

He was the consensus #1 WR between on3 and 247 in the 2023 class

FWIW He has 9th best odds to win Biletnikoff

Will probably be the 2nd or 3rd best wr we see all year behind Tre Harris at Ole Miss or Deion Burks at OU

He's definitely ahead of those 2. Those are 4th and 5th year guys who arent exactly 1st round draft picks right now.

He might get double covered all night (well we’re gonna try to atleast )
Branch is explosive and takes the top off of defenses

Not unless I see him coming up my driveway with a bat in hand.

The best defense for LSU is to run the ball with that big offensive live. Control the clock and keep the other team off the field.

Hard to say. How much has he improved since last season? He certainly wouldn't have been a starter in BR, last year.....

Our defense will be improved- it has to be. But how improved? We shall see....

Anyway, here were his numbers from last season....

Branch stats 2023

Again, he was behind 2 seniors who both got drafted. And a lot of guys would have been behind 2 first round picks here

Not unlike a lot of receivers here as freshmen who went on to be high NFL picks (and also werent a Top WR just as they stepped onto campus).

Go look up Nabers, Thomas Jr, Boutte (before Marshall quit that season), Chase, Jefferson, Marshall Jr freshmen years here.

Being he's at S.C., I'm sure he'll be an All-American by mid season, and will get an invitation to NYC as a Heisman Finalist.

He looked pretty good in the holiday bowl. I don’t know much about their receivers but he and moss had a great connection in that game.
