He will leave only if he is looking for something different. Jay Johnson loves the man and has had a professional relationship with him for a long time.

It’s a little concerning A&M was fine with him leaving and feels our production hasn’t matched what we look like on paper. I’m still a big Jay fan, and I don’t think he’s going to keep yeskie around if he doesn’t think he’s the guy. So we’ll see.

Lol. You guys are sold on “J”. Lol.

Biggest thing tis offseason is they need to look at guys that throw strikes FIRST in the portal and not just go after everyone with stuff whether they throw strikes or not. IT really burned us this season only Cowan and Eyanson are the only arms out all the arms we got in the portal who can throw strikes and pitch effectively for us.

It's hard to try and "fix" so many guys and clearly not a strongsuit of yeskie so stop trying to grab so many guys we hope to "fix" and grab more guys like Cowan and Eyanson who are proven effective strike throwers.

Instead of getting 2/7 transfers who throw strikes maybe look at taking 5-6 out of 7 and maybe 1-2 project guys.

Of course he will be back. Jay loves yeskie. I think he is doing a pretty good job.

Most of our transfers were not what you’d consider “project” guys.

Mayers was but his upside is obvious
Benge was a little but he had 22 walks in 33 innings.

But Conor Ware had 3 BB last year.
Sheerin what 109 SOs to 32 Walks last year.
Dorsey had 16 walks in 30 innings.

Obviously Eyanson and Cowan were good last year and are pretty good this year.

now go to the SEC.

have people actually watch you pitch
Have way less of a margin for error missing in the zone and all of a sudden some guys can’t replicate that.

He's publicly stated multiple times that he thinks Yeskie is the best pitching coach in CBB. Why he believes that, I have no idea. We have about 4 pitchers on the entire roster with more command of their pitches than Nuke LaLoosh.

All the transfer pitchers but Cowan and Eyanson had control issues.

Not a transfer, JUCO guy.

Sheerin had 42 free passes in 70 IP
Dorsey had 23 free passes in 30 IP
Mayers had 81 free passes in 70.2 IP
Benge had 33 free passes in 33 IP
Fontenot had 12 free passes in 11 IP

None of those are good, all especially bad outside of Sheerin who also clearly had some control issues walking a guy every 5 outs or so. All these guys continue to not throw strikes here with Sheerin just being unavailable.

a HBP isnt great but it isn’t the same as a walk.

But even then Sheerin had 109 strike outs.

thats about 2.6 Ks for every BB+HBP

you take that all day.

Sheerin was going to be pretty big for this staff imo. I guess we will see when he gets back.

Has anybody mentioned that the sec zone is noticeably smaller than other conferences?

If we are recruiting guys that are having even the slightest sign of trouble finding the zone in a small conference that is going to be magnified in the SEC.

So he’s gonna hire a guy and then say he sucks publicly? That’d be an interesting work environment lol.

No and you can’t definitively say this. It’s all up to the ump and some of our games have had some bad zones but not necessarily tight. How many games in other conferences do you realistically watch? Our relief guys are missing by a lot not nibbling and missing

honestly if they televised the strike zone CBB would crumble.

these umps are so bad people would riot watching them frick up game after game

In two seasons it is hard to see his value. I do not think his strong suit it fixing mechanics. His results have been pretty chalk (already good pitchers pitching well).

It’s extremely hard to evaluate him given the huge amount of turnover in the staff.

I think we returned

Anderson
Guidry
Noot
Shores
Primeaux

Noot and Shores haven’t really pitched the last 2 years
Guidry isn’t pitching this year

So as a developer what are we looking at?

Anderson and Primeaux?

It's the exact same result and pitchers fault, it counts as a free pass. I didn't even include WP since that can be a bit situational, but some of them racked those up too. Point was every transfer pitcher had some notable or major control issues before coming here except Eyanson and Cowan and now those are our only of (of the 7) who we can rely on at all.

Hes the least questionable compared to the others I mentioned with control issues, but control issues were still present there. Obviously TBD since he's out the season (probably), but not guarantee he would have been a big part to the staff if he had some control issues still. In the end if someone can't throw strikes they can't pitch much here and that's of no value to us.

I don’t think so.

He may be a good coach but the results have been poor.

Jay needs to move on and he will.
