They don't have three starters. Shores is a head case right now.

He needs mound time. Unless you think you know more than Ben McDonald.

Besides, this board was a mess when Ty Floyd pitched. Funny how he threw the gem against UF when the majority on here had wrote him off.

Ty Floyd threw an 8 inning gem vs Ole Miss before the postseason and essentially a perfect game vs #1 Wake Forest through 5 innings before the Florida game, are you fricking serious with that comparison

The only comparison is this board lost its mind each time they were on the bump.

2 total different pitchers.

You literally just said people wrote Ty Floyd off, yet he threw a great game a week before that Florida game vs a better team. I would say people were probably happy to have him on the bump going into that Florida game. It’s not the same at all.

Maybe it’s more of Thatcher Hurd postseason story, which would be awesome for LSU if so. I’m rooting for Shores, but what do you want Ben McDonald to say when Mascona asks him diplomatically what is wrong with Chase Shores? I think the majority of fans are simply tired of watching the bullpen walk games out of reach for the offense when the offense is slumping (like right now), and can’t score their usual 7+ a game.

t’s college kids so you can’t expect them to be perfect, but it definitely seems the walks should be fixed, and it’s more frustrating seeing it from guys like Shores, Rizy and Schmidt who you know can be All Americans if they figure it out

They latch on to a scapegoat every year, this year it's Yeskie aka Yeski's turn.

Half of our fans can't even spell his name right.

if this great offense would score between 7 to 10 runs a game as i thought they were built to do ,we wouldn't be having this conversation

People who feel powerless and victimized always do this stupid shite because they have no clue what the hell theyre talking about.

Anger is about the only emotion they understand. Instant gratification is their only motivating factor.

Okay I’ll play. The ERA is inflated because Anderson, Eyanson, Evan’s and Cowan have 49% of your innings pitched.

In the other 184 eligible innings pitched. 156 hits allowed
206 strikeouts
122 walks
37 hit batters

Only one guy with an ERA under 4 (Schmidt 3.95), which is inflated by midweek stuff because he’s been bad in conference play.

Not good.

In conference play, the staff minus the 4 aforementioned pitchers have the following stats:

50 IP
56 hits allowed
47 walks
14 hit batsmen
43 runs allowed (41 earned)

I’m not going to suggest that the performance of the staff last night was anything but disappointing, however:

A) Why would 50% of the innings, from our top contributors, not count in the performance of the pitching staff?

B) This information is not helpful without context - how does this compare to other SEC teams, with their top performers excluded?

Don’t worry, they will consult the exhaustive list of former LSU players and former LSU staff members to come up with replacements. Does Cannizaro do pitching?

So Anderson’s,Eyansons,Cowen,Evan’s doing well haven’t been because of Yeskies coaching.According to some they should be getting worse, you can’t have it both ways

I mean that was sandwiched between giving up 5 and 6 runs in 7 innings the week before and after.

Thats was our saturday pitching too.

In total agreement with you.

I was pointing out that some who want Yeskie replaced also want Schloss who happened to hire Yeskie at A&M.

FTR, what's maddening to me is how the pitching game has morphed into velocity, spin rates, # of pitches at the expense of "pitching." We've never had as many arms who could hit 95+ but at the same time struggle to throw strikes when it counts.

My question is who's been disappointing or under achieved as a pitcher this year? The guy coming of TJ surgery? We got young pitchers absolutely killing it. We got transfers from small schools pitching in the sec killing it. I don't see how we point the finger at the pitching coach when half the guys have been lights out.

That’s a good question. I expect strike throwers at worse at LSU with our recruiting capabilities. Why can’t we have better pitchers throughout our staff. The number of walks and hit by pitches seem high.

the problem isn’t you aren’t both good and a strike thrower and you’re just a strike thrower you will get hit

Wow - let's cherry pick the worst stats, and extrapolate that to the entire staff.
