Fehoko - Will be a very nice addition to the DL, starter at DE, great add

Giles - Talking TTU's best receiver here, it's a very good addition, gave him #7 so you know he's legit

Alexander - Never a big contributor at Stanford, but we needed CB bodies desperately, so this is to fill in 4th/5th type CB slot with experience...I dont see him playing in front of Greedy, Kirklin or Vincent. This is so they dont have to play Netherly really this year and a replacement for Fulton if he can't get eligible. Monroe might also be ahead of Alexander if he plays at nickel/dime.

Lewis - Super underrated JUCO OL, they seem to cant wait to get him on the field as a starter at guard enough to push Cush off center and Brumfield there

Traore - Remains to be seen but got off to a bad start in the spring from the looks of it, not expecting much at the moment
pretty much agree 100%

To Add:
- Lewis has shown enough a camp/practice to say he's solid. He'll be a starter. The lack of P5 snaps is moot regarding him.

- sort of in wait and see mode on Fehoko... but waiting to see if he'll be stud or solid. Star or starter. Well beyond "contributor".

NegaO's won't let you get away with mentioning our extremely tough schedule. Nevertheless, it is, indeed, just that. Yes, it will come into play on our season.
However, if we manage to beat a few teams in there we're not supposed to it will be golden toward making the playoffs.

Not that I like to defend Saban but he is one of the few coaches who believe the power 5 schools should only play power 5 schools

It doesn’t matter what he says—as in recruiting, he’ll say whatever he thinks will benefit him. Here are the football juggernauts on their schedule this year:

I'm not going to look for your previous posts, so do you always stretch to find reasons to trash the team?

No. And by pointing out that Alexander who played sparingly for the better part of 3 years at Stanford isn't going to make our DBs any better isn't trashing the program.

Cowbells won’t be a cakewalk either. We overlook them because we beat them for so long. Now they’re contenders. New coach or not.

These are 2 completely different teams. Go look back at 2011 we were preseason number 4. We returned a lot of talent. There wasnt a lot of unproven guys on that team. Brockers and bennie Logan were 2 nice pieces but everyone else had a lot of game time experience at all levels. This year is different there are unknowns everywhere.

You obviously don’t remember the narrative about the defense going into 2011. We had lost Patrick Peterson, Drake Nevis, and Kelvin Shepherd.

Brockers played a lot as a RS FR in 2010 but he wasn’t a force and Logan had no experience at all. Our LBers were thought to be weak (or at least unproven)and Sam Montgomery was coming off of ACL surgery.

The only sure thing about the 2011 defense in the preseason was the secondary but no one knew TM7 was gonna be the TO machine he became. We didn’t know that Eric Reid would turn into a superstar or that Claiborne would be as lockdown as he was either.

We thought we had good players on that D but those guys outplayed expectations at every level.

I’m not saying this D will be as good as 2011, I’m just pointing out that the 2011 defense had question marks before the season began.

Spot on. No idea how it relates to this year though

P5 game experience is a hell of a lot different than practice experience.

Our backups have better experience practicing against our roster than Traore and Lewis have playing against JUCO players.

The question marks on the defense were not there actually. Preseason number 4! Brockers and Logan yes which is what I said. Ryan Baker was a proven commodity and so was Francis at the 2 OLB. Minter and Hatcher had played a lot of ball and yes neither were seen a superstars. But Claiborne was preseason all American! He was second team all SEC in 10, Reid and Taylor were seen as 2 strong pieces and Mathieu was said by many to be the next great superstar at LSU. The 2 are not comparable. This is not 2011 cause there also weren't question Mark's on the O like there are here. We have next to nothing outside of a few O lineman. The wideouts are talented but never big contributors and same with the running backs and no one knows about any of the QBs because none of them have enough game experience.

Well a number of people on here refused to acknowledge last years extremely easy schedule considering the chaos with head coaches so that door swings both ways.

I guess my response wasn’t to say the comparisons are equal as much to say that while we had potential at every position on D in 2011, it wasn’t a guarantee that they’d be as good as they were.

Obviously they were thought of in higher regard as a team than the 2018 version of the Tigers, I was just pointing out that there were question marks with that team as well.

Yeah if Burrow starts I think that is the biggest transfer boost because it upgrades what we had greatly. I still wanna see what Giles can do in the SEC as well as Fehoko before I praise them. We’ve had transfers before get talked up and barely play.
