Does the fact that the refs were fair against Bama change your opinion?

LSU got several close calls that we never seem to get when playing Bama this season...we even got some breaks...does that change your belief that the refs are always on Bama’s payroll?
Do you now believe that the SEC just gives the calls to the team with the best chance to make the playoff?

I was very shocked how fairly the game was called...I’m not sure what happened this year but I still believe Bama gets most of the calls against every SEC Team. I’ll need to see refs be fair a few more times before changing my opinion.

What breaks do you have in mind?

I don't recall many close plays in the games between LSU and BAMA the past few years. I think the one disservice on the Moss catch was the ref never stated he was forced out...if he says that in the beginning, it is no drama.

The only issues I have over the years was the PP7 blown INT call and two occasions where off-setting personal fouls cost LSU badly. One, in that 10-0 loss, LSU in a tie early 4th quarter was driving, BAMA committed like four personal fouls and LSU committed one (and that was laughable) and the four to one was offset. That was bullshite. LSU musters a FG there and it's 3-0 with 10:00 left in the game. Honestly, that may have been enough. Hah

The call against Vadal at the end of the game In 2014 stole a victory from LSU.

PP7 intercepted that pass. I don’t care how long it’s been, nobody is changing my mind

Close spots that went our way, reviews that went our way. The Moss catch was a break, it didn’t seem like he was forced out. No brutal questionable holding calls on our big plays...the usual crap.
I’m not just talking about LSU, they get these breaks against most SEC teams, it’s maddening and weird when it didn’t happen against us this year.

Was that the personal foul after 1st and Goal with a 1:00 left tied? Yeah, looked like a garbage call. While the FG may have happened anyway, it stopped the clock. That was the biggest thing. It also forced LSU into basic runs.

Also speaking of holding, I vividly remember Chassion getting held legitimately just about every play. Dude couldn’t catch a break, and he still managed to get to the QB.

I guess I simply do not view correct calls as getting a break.

We got a break vs OU on a no-call PI and we got a break vs Clemson when CEH stepped OOBs.

I don't remember anything of that sort vs Bama.

That one hurt as it took them overtime to beat us in TS. I think if we go on to win that one, the series with Bama is not as lopsided as it was.

Very well could have gone on a run that year and snuck into the playoffs (would’ve lost to either OSU or Oregon though)
It sounds crazy but if we won out (wins over arky Tamu Missouri and 1 other easy win) then we would have a very convincing argument IMO to be in over I think TCU
Would’ve been a long shot but nonetheless turned a poor season for us into a great one

No, because this was the first time in 8 years we had better talent.

Refs should not be applauded for doing their fricking job.

They should be called out when they are incompetent. SEC refs are incompetent more so than not.

Odd how the playoffs without SEC refs did not make us mention referees at all. They let the teams play without prejudice.

The Bama game this past year, we simply had a better team that day and we don't notice many bad calls when we win.

Chaisson got held a lot it seemed. Seems Bama jumped a couple of times without being called. I rarely notice when we screw up and get by with it because a) it's rare and b) I wear purple and gold lenses.

1. The Bama game officiating crew seems to be very consistent. What is the head guy’s name?

2. In general, the Alabama officiating advantage has been neutralized somewhat by the addition of instant replay.

They’ve always been fair. Bama has gotten as many poor calls as we have, it’s just that they won most of those games, so the calls don’t fester. It’s rare that the winning team remembers a bad call against them years later. But Bama will remember that Thad Moss catch on the boundary forever (it actually was the correct call).

I think the SEC is worried about protecting their best stock in getting to the playoffs. Normally that team is Bama. This year I think they saw both teams had legitimate shots so they had no need to tip the outcome one way.

I just rewatched this game yesterday and they missed a few easy calls against Bama or bad ones against us I noticed.

2 I remember:

- Chase got grabbed on a go route to end zone by Diggs, should have been a clear holding call at least, no call

- They called holding on Fulton late in the 3rd quarter covering Jeudy on a slant route which was horrible, there wasn't even any real contact made and announcers said no way, it was on a 2nd/10 and the ball just missed. Would have made it 3rd and 10 from Bama's own 36, instead that got 1st/10 on the 46. They later scored a TD on the drive to cut the game to 33-27. Who knows if they dont call that and they end up punting it, might have been a blowout instead, we did end up scoring on next drive to make it 39-27 (went for 2, didnt get it). 40-20 might have been the nail in them in the mid 4th.

Yea it's nice to not have gotten totally screwed playing bama for a change (Moss catch), review a 1st down for us too I think they originally called a 3rd or 4th down. However, I wont pretend like they still didn't miss some easy calls or no calls either. It was hardly a totally clean game.

Obviously. This was two undefeated top 5 teams facing off. If either team had a loss or was ranked out of the top 10 they would have not won the game.

EVEN if LSU played the same exact game as they did, if they had a loss Bama would have been awarded the game. College football is money, the SEC is the very best at knowing how to make the most money.

The officials probably had a conference call with Nick and told them they love him and he is THE MAN but they were going to have to call this one straight up.

You ever watch a Bama game when they call a penalty on Bama early and Nick flips his lid? Then late in the game when Bama has an insurmountable lead and they call a penalty. Three refs have a conference with Nick explaining that there is no way the other team can win and they HAVE to call penalties on Bama so the box score seems reasonable. Nick looks at the ground and shakes his head "yes". Then he is not mad for the rest of the calls against Bama.
