No.
LSU has already cleverly planted the OSU story to create enough negatives to keep them away.

No. Despite his record speaking for itself, Miles has a reputation as a bit of a dumbass. Even though he's never said on national TV that football is played on a triangle like Saban did.

no. he doesn't have the public image that's right for them. This. His goofball image wouldn't go over well in Austin.
As he's done before, Miles will likely try to use the Texas situation to hike his pay, but I can't see UT seriously considering him at this point in time.

miles aint going anywhere. believe it or not, most other teams in the country think he is a bafoon. and, that's cool with me.

I live in Ann Arbor. The hearsay is that there was a lot of interest in Miles at one time but certain powerful people vetoed the idea so the offer was never made. Apparently, Miles made a few enemies when he was an assistant coach at U of M. Again, I do not have connections and this is just hearsay but it is the commonly believed story.

If he does, hopefully LSU will call his bluff this time. Reward him if we make it to the SECCG or a BCS bowl, but not just because his agent is putting his name out there.

Agree completely. He inherited a great situation that Saban was building and - despite inexplicable coaching decisions - has kept the program at its highest level ever. We're living in the best era of LSU football ever. But no pro teams are looking at him and no top-tier college teams would either at this time. He's about to be 60 and his national reputation as a goofball is solid. Fine if LSU wants to reward him for performance, but I wish we'd stop thinking that he's a hot commodity who has lots of options to leave.

Here is what I believe happened: UM AD contacted Miles agent and asked IF miles is interested WHAT would it take. He got an answer, reported back to Ann Arbor powers that be and they realized Miles was a real possibility. So they used Desmond Howard to sucker Hetbstreit into reporting the job "offer" the day of the SECCG so miles would have to deny it
Sabah will either go to the cowboys or jets or he will retire at Bama. He isn't taking another CFB job.

He does have options, I can guarantee you that.

Many on this board don't believe it but Miles is a big name coach with a great résumé.
He is under appreciated by many in our fan base but he is also only 2 years younger than Mack Brown. I'd think Texas would want to get a younger coach.

We all have options and so would Miles. But is another perennial top 10 program going to pay him $5M plus a year to take over their team? No, I don't think so. And none of the 32 pro teams are crazy enough to hand over their billion or multi-billion dollar franchises to a man who has a tendency to speak like a 60 year-old crazy uncle who's recovering from a stroke.

He was never ever a serious contender for any if the coaching searches his name was involved in (UM twice, Colorado, Arkansas). Each time our admin folded either with more money or longer term (ie more security). No need to. His reputation is that of a great recruiter who can't bring it all together unless Saban had some time with them first. Also the buffoon thing, clock management issues etc. Funny thing is, look at his buyout and tell me who the real baffoon is, Miles or LSU???
