I haven't bitched about it anywhere in this thread. Just don't like the constant excuses on here from folks who obviously can't remember when lsu used to kick the shite out of everybody and especially scrub teams like air force.

You apparently haven’t followed college baseball since the 90’s

Agreed but ppl will still be saying its "early" balls deep into sec play.

And if they do I’ll say no it’s not.

Ahh. Our first 90s reference. We should try to sneak in those old bats, and bring back the steroids, to satisfy some of you idiots.

I pay attention to the sport and I know enough to know that there are no teams that do what LSU used to do.

By the way, we just won 6-1. Air Force only scored on a pitch in the dirt.

Yeah, but Air Force scored. And we didn't hit 5 HRs, with 23 hits and 15 runs. Anything less is unacceptable. It being game one is just an excuse. It's never too early.

The team as a whole looked much better. More disciplined at the plate. Had some well struck balls. Only a couple of at bats with a bad approach at the plate.

Too early to tell if this is an exception or the norm, but the discipline at the plate and the approach of hitting the ball where the pitch was much better. Our 7-9 hitters were being smart (mostly) and not trying to pull out everything over the fence getting in poor hitting counts.

Morgan stood out as he was very methodical with his at bats and he is a huge upgrade at first base defensively.

You’ve said some really dumb shite in this thread. Say what you want about people being apologists, but it’s totally fair to talk about it being early when it’s the middle of the first game of the season, moron

If there is anyone making any conclusions about a baseball team off of one game just go ahead and dismiss them from now on they do not know anything about how baseball works.

My point is that it’s too early to tell

Here are likely impressions of the typical Rant idiot:

"But, we were playing Air Force! We didn't score 20 runs! We didn't have 5 homers! We have bad coaches! Our batters never focus! The only reason Air Force scored just one run is that they are awful! This season is bound to suck!"

Really hard to tell after one game with lots of walks

This is what I saw...I only saw a couple times where guys swung at pitches where I was like WTF....that happened more than once an inning at the end of 2019 it seemed like.

I'm still cautiously optimistic with the understanding that LSU was not supposed to be out of the world at the plate this year....we will go as far as pitching takes us and that looked the part for sure today for the most part.

It was encouraging to see the guys take the walks though....at times in seasons past it seemed like our guys got frustrated at walking and just swung at any BS halfway near the plate.

Air Force’s pitching wasn’t good enough for us to get a rhythm going. They barely missed inside the strike zone. When they missed, they missed by a lot. As weird as it sounds, if their pitchers were better we may have had more hits.
