I agree. This is a prove it year for Kelly. If he can’t even make the CFP with this loaded roster, then he will never do anything of significance for LSU.

Not saying it’s championship or bust but is it really a far fetched idea for this roster to mesh and steamroll everyone like 2019? Hell look at the roster it’s by far the most talented roster Kelly has ever had in his career. So there’s no excuses. This guy has pulled off some impressive seasons at ND and even his first year at LSU was impressive considering the circumstances.

So.. 11-1/10-2/SEC Championship is absolutely the bare minimum. Anything less is an absolute failure and the hit seat is on full blast.

No.

I wish, but I don't see it. Just hard for me to trust this defense with the last two season scarred into my brain.

But we'll know week one if we have a squad good enough.

No one blames you but look at 2023 to 2024 defensive rankings. They improved a lot but nobody can go from 130th to 1st. It takes time. They were 60th last season so realistically if they can be in the top 20, they will be in great shape.

I just can’t ignore all the portal guys that were brought in. Not just random guys. We’re talking top tier guys in their position. Expecting them to have a top 20 defense is not unreasonable.

If pre-season rankings and home field advantage mean anything Clemson will be favored over LSU in opening game. Methinks the point spread will tighten down close to pick-em by game time once the bets move the line.

Imho Kelly is not the answer.
So you are in the nega column. They will say no.

Those who aren't a nega will say yes.

Simple.

This is you:

Yea if we end up having a top 20 defense, then I think we are in. That would be huge.

Not trying to be a downer but I also just don't have a ton a faith in Kelly. I'm not someone on here all the time calling for him to be fired but I just don't think he will ever win the big one. So I have just kept myself from getting my hopes up.

That will probably change if we beat Clemson. Crazy to say but I think week one is a must win.

Numerous guys, but that doesn't really matter because I'm not trying to argue that there are a boatload of better candidates available. That doesn't change the fact that I don't think he will ever win a NC.

IMO the OU game in Norman to end the year will be a playoff elimination game for both teams.

CFP or bust for BK.

The Tigers either get in or it's "Adios Amigo" for Butter Kreme. (He'll either retire or take a gtfo settlement a la Orgeron),

All the pieces are in place for a CFP run EXCEPT for Offensive Line. OL is gonna kill it unless Sloan installs a Joe Brady style offense where Nussmeier is getting the ball out of his hand fast so the OL doesn't have to hold their blocks that long.

British Knight certainly doesn't seem too concerned that 4 starting OL's are gone, because he only signed 2 from the transfer portal and all the returning OL's don't have much playing experience. (Recipe for Disaster)

It will still come back to the Center position and Braelin Moore will have to that it over in the Fall. (Or it will be a shite show)

The Defense should be Pump Lump "Fine" with Pyburn and the 3W (Weeks & Weeks & Weeks) LB Corps kicking butt.......

Numerous guys like who? Everyone knows better than our administration so rattle off a few legit names who would be better than Kelly so far. Oh and keep in mind this is in 2022 so be realistic

Even after last year… we were a win at Florida away from playing in the SEC championship even after the USC loss. Odds are way too low, out of conference loss hurts.. but doesn’t kill your odds that bad

We aren’t running through the SEC gauntlet unscathed.

I think the 20% probability is about right. What do you think it would be?
