I think Leslie's clause, if it exists, is just pertaining to the sec if I remember right.

This is correct.

either way if saban stays and gets bumped up to 8 no way miles should get that money, NC or not.

Even you have to admit LSU would somewhat balk at more than doubling his salary

If les wins a 4-team playoff, it would bring in huge money. It would be worth it.

Shouldn't you be lurking on the Alabama Board and then running over here to misquote everything said over there?

Oh, wait.

is it just a one year thing, or would his salary continue to remain the highest?

I don't have a theoretical problem with a coach making 10 million a year if he wins at that level. What bothers me is the mediocre coaches being given remotely comparable salaries. Winning 7 or 8 games a year is not remotely comparable to winning 11 or 12 games a year and does not merit a salary that is say 60% of the top earners.

The buyouts are also an issue. If you want better compensation as a coach right now the tradeoffs are losses in stability and should also be a minimal payoff to get out of a contract. I find it weird that a lot of people have a "its just money" response to this issue. It is your school's money and they should be more careful with it than they are.

The LSU board still has to approve it, if LSU wins it and Saban is receiving $10 million per year I can tell you now the board will not approve that much for a LSU head coach, there would be some renegotiation and if Saban reups for Bama I would not be shocked if that contract is reworked. Unlike Saban, Miles is not money hungry. Saban better hope he wins about 3 more in the next 5 years because the West is only getting tougher.

I started this exact thread yesterday and nobody seems to be paying the question any mind right now with all this other going on. I know a lot of coaches have this in their contract, will be interesting to see all of this play out.

I remember he had something like this but I think it was highest in the SEC only and it might have required him to meet certain goals.
