Does it bother anyone else it STILL seems Jayden doesn't get the recognition he deserves?

Of the hundreds of thousands of college football players that have run through FBS. None have had a better passer rating or yards per pass attempt than Jayden. His 208 passer rating and 11.7 yards per pass attempt set all time FBS records. Simultaneously leading all FBS players including RB's as a QB in yards per carry at 8.5. All against the #5 SOS. That probably won't happen again for centuries. Had a 10:1 TD to INT ratio. Was 67% on passes over 25 yards with 25 TDs and 0 INTS on those long passes which he couldn't throw the ball 25+ yards for his life last year which is absurd to think about. I'm not positive on this either but pretty sure he set an FBS yardage record in regular season with just 300 passes when this year alone top 10 QB's all had ~400 passes.

For comparisons to 2016 Lamar which is much below Jayden:

Lamar Rating- 146; Jayden - 208; Maye - 145; Caleb - 170
Lamar YPA- 8.5; Jayden - 11.7; Maye - 8.5; Caleb - 9.4
Lamar Completion % - 59%, Jayden - 73%; Maye - 63%; Caleb - 66%
Lamar Yard per Carry - 6.9; Jayden - 8.5; Caleb irrelevant or 0; Maye - 4.0
TD to INT- Lamar 2.5:1; Jayden - 10:1; Caleb - 6:1; Maye 2.5:1

I don't think we will in our lifetimes see a QB set FBS records in Rating, YPA and lead FBS that year in yards per carry after this.

This doesn't get the recognition it deserves, and it's not right how he's not automatic #1 across the boards in mock drafts. He's moved to top 5 in most recent mocks I've seen, but still should be unanimous #1. Calebs rating was -38 lower than JD. Drake Maye rating was -63 lower than JD. It just makes my blood boil a little when I see ESPN "experts" that have never once looked at the stat lines of JD or the other college QBs talk about Caleb and Maye just because that's what they've heard others say. I get Maye looks more NFL typical, but a -63 passer rating vs JD negates any "looks like an NFL QB" comparison when on field performance is that much lower. Calebs prob not even 6' with much lesser stats than Jayden and on field performance is much lower. Rating takes into account full QB play including rushing.

There has to be a point that looks the part (which is Maye and I don't really think Caleb does) gets overcome by exponentially better stats and against tougher competition. I think once NFL teams get to the offseason and they really hone in on prospects and watch tape/stats, that Jayden goes #1 overall.

He's totally unappreciated in his time. But I think in the future, his 2023 season will be more widely recognized as the crazy statistical anomaly it was. If he lights up the NFL, that recognition will come quicker.

He would be the brand for the CFP if our LSU Tigers were in the CFP… it is zero help too he has opted out of the bowl. There is nothing to see here… there is nothing to sell here.

Hope he lights it up in the NFL. Geaux Tigers

Have you checked out the awards he's won?

Really? You don't recognize that there may be some hesitation here? Are you really saying reasonable minds cannot differ on where he should be taken?

Really terrible post btw.

I don’t know what else you want. Dude won the heisman. Will be a first round pick. I mean besides sweeping the awards circuit, I don’t know what else you can ask for.

People want it to feel like Burrow but the missing piece in all of this is team success. Having 3 losses changes how his season is viewed nationally and locally, fair or unfair.

Also, something that will likely keep Daniels from going #1, fair or unfair is durability with his size.

Unanimous #1? The draft involves players of all positions, not just QB. College stars don’t mean swat in the pros. Look at the many Heisman QB’s that flopped in the pros.

I think he ends up in the College Football Hall of Fame as he is the only player in history with 12,500 passing and 3,000 rushing yards. One reason I hoped he would play is that he's only 250 yards from 13,000 career passing yards. And that would give him over 4,000 yards on the season. He's also really close in total offense to #3 all-time.

Daniels might be the best dual threat QB in NCAA History. Better passer than Vince Young and Lamar Jackson. And higher yards per rush than either.

How old is Caleb and how old is Jayden? The draft isn’t about who is better; it’s about who WILL BE better. Caleb popped two years earlier that Daniels did (21 as opposed to 23).

I’d pick Daniels, but I can see why some would pick Caleb.
