If tomorrow morning's update shows another westward shift you can bet this game is coming to BR.

FL under a state of emergency.

Nobody is an idiot. At least not yet. Not on this particular topic. The models change, sometimes fairly drastically, in just a few hours. And they do a poor job of modeling intensity. It's Monday. The margin of error is too great to speak with certainty on anything. Say it does trend west. Nobody knows what the contingency plans will be. Even if they do, nobody here will believe them. This is a valid topic, but most of the discussion, and all of fingerpointing, is premature. But hold tight. Somebody will inevitably be exposed as an idiot. Scads of them probably. Maybe me.

I didn't call anyone an idiot. I said he has to be joking.
I also said that the game would be moved on Wednesday if the current path and intensity models hold west over or just off the coast of Florida.
They can't have people travel to an area they may be impacted by a major hurricane at 9PM the night before a game. That's pretty common sense.

I agree with you. Even if not a direct hit close to Gainesville there will be millions of people evacuating the coast westward. Who knows if there will even be power in Gainseville due to the rains or even moderate winds.
I also think that there is a real possibility that the game is postponed if there is too much devastation anywhere along the FL coast. FL would push for that. You can't have players playing when their homes and families were just destroyed.

The 2AM EDT forecast cone is slightly further west than the 11PM.

Exactly, there is no extra date to have a reschedule. No way they can cancel. They have to play, just like UGA vs SCe, they gonna have to move that game. Seriously, this is a good reason all conferences should add an open week before Conference championship game weekend. Any make up games can be played...

This game is getting moved. That hurricane is huge. Even if it is off shore, Gainesville will get rains and high winds

You think it will be in BR?

Wonder if they would even consider any other options or just move to TS. Would that I wonder then lead to a two year stretch AT Florida?
Prayers for all in the way of this thing. Life >> football.

See where that Fri 2AM node says "M?" That's my house...Yay! On the plus side, if Matthew did hit Florida and moved towards GNV, it could do millions of dollars in improvements.

I don't see why they would go anywhere else. We have an empty stadium that weekend. Why gonto a neutral site?
Posted on 10/4/16 at 5:27 am to CoachChappy
Well TS is "logical" but was just wondering if the SEC would try to keep it close to Florida for their fans. Doesn't TS need 72 hour notice to security/concessions/etc? Think that's what I read.
Posted on 10/4/16 at 5:38 am to tiger91
Just about every stadium needs 72 hours. The problem with keeping it near Florida is that nea Florida is still in the way of that storm potentially. During the USCe game I've talks, no other college venues were chomping at the but for 2 other schools to come on campus and tear the place up. The safest pro stadium that's closest to UF is the super dome. everything else is potentially in the path

theres no way that LSU sends its players and fans TOWARDS a major hurricane, and theres no way the SEC lets LSU send its players and fans TOWARDS a major hurricane. that would be really dumb

Current predictions have it over Charleston at game time. That is 6 hours away. I think it will be fine.
