Does Hurd get the start tonight?

It would be nice for him to become a dependable arm. If he starts, I hope we extend him out. Let some others get some rest.

It’d make the most sense considering he didn’t pitch over the weekend.
Full week’s rest may do him some good. Worked well for Little.

Think I would bring him in later after they get a lead. Poor guy just can’t throw strikes. When he does there’s no movement and it gets hit.

I hope to never see Money again. That guy is just bad

But it’s Nicholls. He was also the first name Jay brought up when asked about pitching tomorrow.

Meh. We know what we have in money at this point. I’m looking for that next arm that’s going to help us win games in May and June.

For all of the people saying , why did we bring Hurd here? And “he’s not sec caliber” please do some research. Mlb is still all over the guy as a first rounder in 2024 . I’m sure that’s just assuming he will get Back to normal. Look at what he did before injury last year .
I think he had the best start by a pitcher not named skenes this season. He will find it again. It may be next year, but he belongs here

Your opinion is just bad. He's not a very good pitcher, sure, but he is essential to preserving the better arms on this staff. And he's one of the few bottom tier pitchers on this staff that we can at least count on to throw strikes, which means we will continue to use him when we're trailing or in midweek games to eat up innings.
I'm betting on Ackenhausen for the first inning because the midweek starts seem to just be whoever is next up that the staff wants to get going for SEC play.
It could be Hurd bc hes the next guy up that we need to get going. But it may be one of his last chances to prove something before the coaches move on to letting Dutton get the midweek starts.

Need to get them all some work when we can. Gonna need em to get going if we are to win games in tournament formats at the tail end of the season.

I’d like to see Hurd go like 15 batters. Maybe get Bucknam in there as well. Still interested in seeing Moffett again.

The kid obviously has a ton of upside, but he’s been given a lot of time to get right and he just can’t seem to do that. Does anyone know how he looked in the fall? It’s worth noting that nearly half his Ks last year came against two opponents, Long Beach and Omaha. He did have a few innings against P5 teams but not a ton. At this point, I think it’s between the ears with Hurd.

Whatever happened to Moffit? I know he got shelled in his one outing early this season, but he was a guy getting a ton of hype pre-season. Even Adam included him as a likely contributor.

Neither could Little until a week ago.

He struggled with his command and hasn't gotten another opportunity yet to work on it in a game.

My reason for hoping he gets a few inning’s tomorrow.

Haha didn’t Money give up a bomb to Nichols already?

I'm really not sure why anyone would oppose Hurd getting more work in. As others have mentioned, the MLB scouts even know he's still got a ton of talent and it's just between his ears right now. Would I put him on the weekend right now? Absolutely not. But in a midweek against Nicholls, he needs to be in there and if he struggles again, we aren't likely to lose the game. Even if we do, it's not a big deal. If LSU wants to get where they want to go at the end of the year, Hurd needs to be a big part of that. He'll figure it out, it's just a matter of time.
