I don't understand why some people are giving Dari shite for it. It's a reasonable question, a major story, and the news had been out for a while before the game.

I agree. That’s on LSU for not informing them that players aren’t aware.

It’s the postgame interview; it has nothing to do with the game. Dari &/or the news team deserves the flak.

Dari has apologized:
4/4:
We never intended to hurt Joe & we will learn from this mistake. My heart goes out to the McCord & Ensminger families, and the entire LSU family, during this incredibly tragic time. I hope they, including LSU fans, will accept this apology.

Coach O is out here saying he's giving the game ball to E, yet ESPN should avoid asking the best player on the team about it?
Nah, it was a perfectly reasonable question. If Joe would have know about it, no one would have been upset about the question.

I don’t get why people are mad either.
It’s sad don’t get me wrong but it’s not like he broke the news to joe that his girlfriend died.
Even for E... this will sound bad but it’s not even his blood. It’s tough but there is some degree of separation there, especially for Joe

Bad take. It is his blood that is distraught. Aside from whatever direct relationship he had w her.

When your child marries - that spouse becomes family, becomes just like your child.
E lost a daughter on that plane. Realize that.

Other post game interviews have players stating that they knew so did only some of the team know and they kept it from Burrow? Or was Burrow just trying to keep class and not comment on the situation out of respect? It’s very very tough situation all around. Definitely the last thing coaches think they will have to handle before and during a game.

Sports Illustrated made it sound like some, but not all, the players knew before the game. Specifically Brennan and Moss who went and hugged E.

All class in that apology.

You could see on Dari’s face he felt terrible. And was likely PISSED at ESPNs behind the scenes team for not maybe doing some research on if the team knew already. Dari is one of the good guys in sports media. It’s not his fault.

I wasn't mad. I just never saw it.
I agree, it was unfortunate that was how he learned about it. And you could tell they were genuinely comforting once they realized he didn't know.
