You honestly believe that? That was a different time in college football and Bama dominated because there essentially no rules. I don't think he can ever match Bear in today's game.

He said that he and his wife realized they made a mistake when they left LSU.

Saban shot his bolt as far as the NFL is concerned.

Agreed.

Saban pretty much had the set-up he wanted in Miami and jumped-ship. I guess anything's possible but the verdict as issued by Nick is that 'I don't belong in the NFL.'

I think Nick is at a stage of life where the kind of stress and frustration he'd experience coaching NFL types has limited appeal. He's got it made at Bama. He has the potential to eclipse the Bear. He loves coaching college athletes. He's earning a mint. Why walk away from something like that? I believe he'll retire from coaching at Alabama. If I were him, I would.

Pete Carrol had the exact same situation at USC. I think he gives it another shot in 3-5 years due to his Napoleon syndrome.

Pete Carroll knew sanctions were coming and got out while the getting was good. Unless Nick also sees something like that coming, the incentive to stay put and become Alabama's new coaching legend would be too great to pass up. Too bad for LSU he needed to get the NFL out of his system before settling down.

I doubt he will go back to the NFL, but you never know. On the other hand, if he stays in college there's really no reason he has to stay at Alabama. Sure he's been successful there, but he doesn't seem in love with the place. If I was a Bama fan and Les Miles leaves LSU in the next few years, I would be pretty nervous. To say the meltdown would be epic is a supreme understatement.

...Anyway, I think the Mayans predicted this would happen in 2012.

Saban's almost 60. He's done with the NFL.

I'm sure he'd rather stay in college and stay near the top instead of risk wasting some of the years he has left in the NFL.

Urban didn't have medical issues. They said Urban had medical issues. It was something else totally.

All the points are speculative. College football with be different in two years. That's certain.

I believe Saban will stay at Alabama. The NFL tried for a couple of years and they finally made an offer he couldn’t refuse. I believe he regretted leaving the college game and Alabama's offer was too good to pass up to get back. I also think Saban gets a bad rap for the way this all played out and I don't blame him for one thing he has done. However, I can't say that I wish ANY success in his new Bammer endeavor.

I don't feel like he will give the NFL another try because of the player issues. They make more $ and sometimes have more controll than the coaches. However like any manager (boss) at any level, job ect.. There has to, at some point, be a leader or manager for success. So maybe he tries again if he thinks the respect for his ability to coach and lead will be there.
If not the NFL, then I don't feel he would leave bama unless another program or AD or Chancellor could convince him to come and turn another historic program around. Let's face it, the Man is a leader, winner, champion. He knows what success is and how it is mostly achieved. Because of his desire and for success, he may someday feel that moving on is part of his own desire for achieving "success".
I don't feel he will ever coach LSU again. That sucks, but it is what it is and I try not to worry about what I can't controll and I find it waistfull of my time to hold grudges. I really enjoyed his time coaching and leading my Alma Matter to success and respect. It was a hell of a ride!

Saban will retire at Alabama. He played the NFL card at LSU to get more money, control, etc. Then he jumped. He got his arse handed to him by NFL coaches, so he cut and ran back to college.
The NFL doesn't want him and he knows it. That is why he did that dog and pony show about denying access to NFL scouts. It was his way of getting back at the NFL

It's funny that you say that, because I think that Saban may end up as USC's next head coach.
