Given this year's schedule is somewhat less rigorous schedule and we have a more settled QB??
I would think the fanbase here is going to be a little dissapointed with that.
Less rigorous? What color is the sky in your world sonnyboy?

Those were all Saban's recruits. That's all they know is giving up after 4 or 5 years...

Can you image Pete Caroll having a record like that
Can you imagine Bobby Bowden, Joe Peterno, or Steve Spurrier with a record like that?

My impression is that the fanbase is already disappointed we don't have 4 NCs over the last 4 years
with the talent they should have at least 2 under the Miles regime

8-4 is a problem. Bad breaks or no bad breaks, we're good enough to win every game on our schedule (even UF). Not saying we will, but we really ought to be in the thick of the fight for the west right till the end. I doubt that 8 wins keeps us there.

That win alone would've salvaged the season and I bet we don't lose to Arky either if we beat Bama. all the sudden you're 9-3 and going to a much better bowl game where we get destroyed when Texas Tech scores 100 on our sorry arse D and everyone still complains in the offseason.
Fixed.
Focusing on the QB play last year is about as fricking misguided as it gets. QB cost us 1 game. D cost us 4. Get over it.

Anyone who makes statements like this is a complete idiot. Sonnyboy, stop for just 1 nanosecond and think, if that is possible.
Winning a NC depends on more than just "talent."
Injuries, schedule, oh and did I mention INJURIES.
Or how about the level of youth on a team? I don't care how talented a team is. If it is inexperienced it will cost them. INJURIES, whether season ending ones, like Matt Mauck in 2002 or nagging ones like the ones to half the defensive line in 2004 cost you games.

Only clueless immature college geeks would be concerned about firing a coach who had just won a BCS championship two years ago and has LSU Football at its all-time zenith.
Immature college geeks, don't you love'm.
Very interesting thread until I got to this particular post. If you think that 'immature college geeks' are the only ones to jump off the bandwagon after the first sign of struggle then you're severely mistaken. This board is full of college students and working adults that I guarantee will go crazy if we have a season like last year again. When winning becomes the normal like it is right now at LSU, the leash on a coach gets shorter with a good percentage of the fan base. Personally I don't agree with this but there's a lot of people out there who think 2 underperforming seasons merits a coaching discussion.
I think the two posts about a coaching hot seat are both negative but good questions. These are the kind of posts that get us through the offseason and are interesting to look back on at the end of the season. Those people who jump on these posts and attack the posters for being 'immature college geeks' are going to be the first ones to jump off the Miles bandwagon at the first sign of trouble.

QB play cost us 1 game???? If I'm a HC watching film on LSU I'm telling my DC that their QB sucks...stack the box and stuff the run and you'll shut down the offense. I tell my OC to open up the playbook and be aggressive. It's ok to make a mistake cuz they'll never get in the endzone, and who knows our defense may score a few points too.
Meanwhile our defense has to try and pitch a shutout while the opponent is playing on our side the field THE WHOLE SEASON!!!! This has everything to do with the QB.
If we would've had a decent QB last year, teams would have had to drive the entire length of the field on our defense, it would've been ok to give up field goals, and they wouldn't have stayed on the field the whole game, Danny McCray wouldn't get put in 1 on 1 coverage with Percy Harvin, etc.
The 1 game where we had solid QB play throughout was the Bowl game. What did our defense look like that game?

Fair or not Miles is not getting paid 4 mil a year to go 8-4.
Posted on 7/15/09 at 9:28 am to MFV
Fair or not has nothing to do with it. Our jealous coach-hater fans will not be allowed to sabatage our football program over one or two more losses than they say is acceptable for this team.
Miles has this program exactly where it belongs with a lot of young inexperienced QBs who might not be fully ready this year.
Too bad Brady isn't here to keep our coach-hater crowd from pointing their jealous noses at our BCS winning coach and his big paycheck.

Actually, you idiots sound just like the NY Yankee fans--arrogant and clueless.

A good percentage of the fan base is clueless. When a school signs a BCS winning coach to a long-term contract, that coach is not going to get fired when the clueless start calling for the coaches head. However, they sure can affect our recruiting program and send it right down the shitter.
Clueless arrogant coach haters, don't you love'm.

But these are the things they talk about when they have no clue what's taking place on the field, and can only see "that" we lose and not "why" we lose.
Oh but Les knows!!! He can and will fix it, so sleep well at night. The Tigers will be on top once again.
Posted on 7/15/09 at 10:05 am to purple and gold 3
it shouldn't, but then again we aren't going to go 8-4
Posted on 7/15/09 at 10:05 am to Chd1478
Yes, absolutley. Especially considering the losses would be all against the same teams as last year.
If we go 8-4 and lose to Bama, UGA, UF and Ole Miss, there will be "hot seat" talk in 2010.

It didn't take long to create a spoiled fanbase. One great decade of football and it is now our right to win championships forever.
