losing is one thing, getting embarrassed is another...ie fla, uga, OM, 3-8 ark team were ALL embarrassing losses last season.
So yes, if we exp those again then yes, the heat on Les will be turned up.

None of those were preceded by a five loss season. Even during the rebuilding years.

So you're saying we should expect a 10-2 or better season simply because we lost 5 games last year?

That makes no sense to me. Last year has nothing to do with this year. Of course I want LSU to play better football this year as last year left a bad taste in all of our mouths. But when push comes to shove, you still have to go out and play the games. And our games happen to take place in the toughest conference in the country where one interception, one false start, and one bad call can be the difference in a 11-1 season and an 8-4 season. There's too much parity in this league in the top 2/3. We were two plays away from being 10-3 last year with the worst defense in the conference.

All I'm saying is shite happens in this conference ... To expect otherwise is not very realistic. Just enjoy the ride and hope for the best...

Only clueless immature college geeks would be concerned about firing a coach who had just won a BCS championship two years ago and has LSU Football at its all-time zenith.

Immature college geeks, don't you love'm.

Yes. LSU fans pay high ticket prices so we can be an elite program. The way I see it, last year was a mulligan to be used by players to gain experience. No excuses this year.

Aside from the concrete example I just gave, coaches are generally judged over the course of several years. Meaning a bad season is generally frowned upon more if it is next to another bad season, than by itself, because it reflects a pattern.

We've always played in the toughest conference, and never used that as an excuse to curb expectations. Nor should we, because we've managed to be at the top of it or very close just about every other year this decade.

I'm not reading this thread, but I'll say this: LSU has four games next year that have the combination of enough talent, atmosphere, coaching, etc. to beat LSU (aside from us just not showing up), and that is UF, @ UGA, @ Ole Miss, and @ Bama. Now, sure a team like Auburn at home could give you trouble, but we are more talented, have a better coaching staff, have homefield, and the psychological edge in the series now, so losing that game would take an incredible AU effort + a shitass LSU effort.

So four games, basically. Going 8-4 would mean that we lost EVERY game that we should be pushed in, which is pretty fricking weak if you ask me. I think we'll go 9-3, and though 8-4 doesn't seem like a huge difference, it really is. Hopefully we are competitive in every game, because if we get raped like we did in three games last year, yeah, a seat in hell would feel better than here.

Exactly. The attitude here is "well we have 4 hard games, so 4 losses is okay."

It sounds like you're just looking for something to gripe about, because you just quoted something that I don't believe one, single LSU fan has said about the upcoming season.

It's great and fine to expect a successful season, but if you start focusing on the L's solely you actually blind yourself to the game within the game.

Yes, 8-4 makes his seat warm. 9-3 should get a little complaining, and 10-2 or above people shouldn't say one damn word.
I think that statement is right on the money, & even Miles would agree too...

Given this year's schedule is somewhat less rigorous schedule

The opposite, I think. The SEC was down last year. Every team will probably be better.

But 8-4 would make his seat warm with the fans. It's already warm with some of them. It would take a whole meltdown next year to get on the hot seat with the admin.

That doesn't appear to be the case.

Just as the early losses in the baseball season were ultimatly irrelvant after we won the CWS, a couple of down years in terms of wins and losses due to inexperience at the QB position will be irrelvant after Miles puts another BCS championship trophy on the shelf.

With all the young talent on this team, Miles has the ship pointed in the right direction no matter what this years record turns out to be.

Absolutely his seat is warm. We pay the guy 4 mill a year. We expect better than 8-4.

I'm sorry, but i'm not expecting anything close to an 8-4 season. Last year was a fluke due to a shitty QB situation. If we had Perrilloux last year we wouldn't have had a season that would warrant these types of posts. I think we are going to surprise alot of people this year, and all this warm seat talk will be replaced by SECCG and MNC posts.

considering the tough schedule, I would think it depends on how that 8-4 happened. If their were a rash of injuries I think most could be understanding to that. Also if the 4 losses were all to high ranked teams, in nail biting games I think that could be accepted. Sometimes the ball just doesn't bounce your way. We may not like it but it does happen.

Lucky for LSU, the RANT's coach hater brain-trust is not in charge of LSU athletics. Only the true coach hater is even contimplating a crusade against the coach who brought us a BCS championship just a couple of years ago.

Messiah Perrilloux couldn't have stopped teams from hanging fiddy on us, broseph. Our team was full of quitters last year, and a QB who snorts coke is probably not going to change that.

some truth to this no doubt, at the same time that NCAA record for pick sixes made it a whole lot easier to quit, and it's hard to feel like we wouldn't have beaten Bama if we had just gotten some decent QB play. That win alone would've salvaged the season and I bet we don't lose to Arky either if we beat Bama. all the sudden you're 9-3 and going to a much better bowl game and feel a whole hell of a lot better in the offseason.
